Marysville Message
3/19/21
Dear Marysville Families
Our hearts are broken for the victims of this week's horrific hate crimes in Georgia. I am heartbroken for the victim's families and friends and for the Asian-American community, and I'm sending all my love to Georgia from the Pacific Northwest.
I express my support for and stand in solidarity with the Asian-American Community in general and Asian-American Community at Marysville and in Portland specifically. Over the last year there has been an increase in violence and harassment against Asian-Americans that is simply unacceptable.
As we grapple with the lasting legacy of racism, we must stand against hate and spread awareness and compassion. We will continue to work towards ensuring that our at Marysville students are ready to lead a more socially just world, as well.
If you or anyone you know needs support, please contact me, Ms. Bertram (sbertram@pps.net), or the counseling/MSW team (Sara Fuller - sfuller1@pps.net and Hang Pham - hapham@pps.net) so that we can extend resources and support.
If you are looking for action, I have linked below to a resource working to end this racist violence and terrorism.
