If your address is no longer a Fancher address, you will need to fill out School of Choice paperwork to stay at Fancher Elementary for the 2023-2024 School Year.

We want to ensure your child's enrollment and classroom placement for next year is not last minute and stressful for you. Please be sure to keep us updated throughout the summer. Leave us a message at 775-2230.

Fun & Funky Field Day, June 5th

Fancher's Field Day is run by our amazing 5th graders who help Mrs. Schlicht, they help run one session of field day and then participate in the other session. We are NOT in need of parent volunteers for our field day, because our students help make it happen!

Students will participate either at 10am or 1pm in field day events and have fun rotating through several fun & funky events.

Please have your child put sunscreen on in the morning and be sure to send a water bottle in with them to refill throughout the day.

Lunch will be served as normal for this day for students.

End of Year Celebration

We will be celebrating students hard work Tuesday, June 6th with Dog Central & Doozies for our students thanks to PTO for sponsoring this! Students will still be able to order a school lunch if they want or bring their cold lunch.

It's Not too late to order a yearbook if you didn't before

Lost & Found

Please check out the lost & found tables that will be set up outside this week at dismissal and claim your student's clothing. The items not claimed by the last day of school will be donated.

summer scholastic book packs

Each Fancher student will be coming home with a book pack to keep reading this summer!

On top of getting outside and enjoying the great outdoors, playing with friends and family we would love for our students to READ this summer as well as work on other activities to help with the the summer slide. Summer slide is a term that references the dip students often experience in their academic ability after a summer break. We can't wait to see how your brains GROW after reading this summer. #FalconProud

Dear Parent or Caregiver,

My Books Summer has been designed to help your child maintain their reading skills over the summer break, a time when many students fall behind their grade levels. We hope that you will support your child’s daily reading, so we are sending home books for your child to read, enjoy, and keep for their home library.

There are many ways to help your child grow as a reader, but the most important is to help establish a routine of daily reading. You might want to help your child set up a time and place for this, establishing a consistent habit that will allow for concentration and immersion in the pleasures of reading. It’s also important to talk with your child about what he or she has read, ask questions, encourage discussions, and help with comprehension as needed. If your child is already an enthusiastic reader, elicit opinions and ideas that are sparked by their reading.

If your child is a reluctant reader, it may be helpful to read certain books together, or for you to read the book on your own and then sit down with your child to discuss it. If you retell your own favorite details, read aloud favorite passages, or ask your own questions about the book, it will set an example for your child to begin to develop their own abilities to analyze and evaluate texts. The Summer Reading Journal and Think Sheets will help your child with their summer reading goals—and will make it easy for you to support your child’s efforts.

We thank you for helping your child make a habit of daily reading and enjoying books. Summer reading is an important way to help your child transition to the next school year.

Pokemon Cards, Toys, and Electronics

Friendly reminder from our Student Handbook at the front of your student's agenda - toys, trading cards, and pokemon cards should be left at home. We want to make sure things are not lost or stolen at school - and we can best do this by leaving items home. pg. 3 of Handbook

Electronic Devices

Such as cell phones, iPods, cameras, tablets are strongly recommended to be left at home, they are not permitted on our playground or in a student's desk during the school day. If the objects are at school they need to remain safely tucked away in backpacks from 8:40am to 3:49pm.

Please be sure to call our front office when your student is absent 989-775-2230

Illness Reminders

For the health and safety of our staff and students - it is very important every morning families are screening their own child before sending them to school for the day.
  • Temperature of 100.4 degrees
  • Sore Throat
  • New uncontrolled cough causing difficulty breathing
  • Diarrhea, vomiting, or abdominal pain
  • New onset of severe headache, especially with fever

Please continue to communicate with your child's building of any new situations that affect your family by calling us at 989-775-2260 or emailing Mrs. Wendi Chaffin at

If your child is not feeling well and/or going to be absent, please call the school, and we will contact their teacher to let them know of the absence.

Please Label your Student's Items

We would love to see our lost & found items claimed, but also to keep the lost & found to a minimum. Families can help us by LABELING EVERYTHING!

Use a permanent marker to label your child's name on lunchboxes, school supplies, backpacks, water bottles, child's clothes (utilize the inside tags of sweatshirts, jackets, shoes, and snowpants). We will periodically check labels and post pictures of items to be claimed - check out the Fancher Facebook page.

Send an extra pair of clothes to stay in your student's locker, place in a ziplock bag or plastic grocery bag, label with their name.

Emergency Safety Drills

Last week students and staff practiced a tornado drill and did a great job moving to their shelter in place location.

During the school year, our buildings are obligated to practice at least 5 Fire Drills, 2 Tornado Drills and 3 Lockdown drills. At times, we do have our YSU Liason or other police officers from the Police Department assist in our drills. We cover with our students the locations of where to go for each drill, what to do during specific drills, and how to properly evacuate when it is needed. You can also find this information in your child's Handbook in the front of the student agenda.

I encourage you to check out our district website where we have information that pertains to our district school safety. Click here to get to the website.
