Halloween!!
The spooks are out!
Assignments
- We've been working on the Water Cycle this week. There is a Homework project due next Wednesday, Nov. 4. Another email has been sent out with details on what is expected.
- We have been learning the structure of essays and how we put all the elements together. We learned GRAB (Gutsy statement, Relevant example, Appeal to emotion, and Background knowledge), RACE (Restate or tell what your body paragraph is about, Answer or give a detail, Cite textual evidence and give credit to the author, and Elaborate or show the reader what you've learned). We will learn about how to WRAP up an essay next week.
- In reading, we have been reading about Alcatraz and digging in (pun intended!) to finding evidence to help support our answers to important questions. We also read about the Headless Horseman, and learned how to infer.
- Math has been focused on multiplication using the distributive property (see the video below). It is setting us up to learn the algorithm; although it isn't quite the same as how we learned it in school.
- We have been focusing on Thinking Win-Win in our Leader In Me lessons. This means that we need to change our mindset to think about how everyone can win in any situation that we find ourselves.

Frequently Asked Questions
A: At the beginning of the school year, I passed out a page describing how to access Class Dojo. This has a texting feature that allows us to send and receive text messages back and forth. I'll be sending out an email invitation to all those who haven't gotten on yet, so watch your inboxes! Also, you can email me at stuart.baggaley@usu.edu or call the school before or after school. You can also come by anytime and join us in whatever activity we are doing!
Q: What do I do with the Cat vs Dog reading log?
A: This is a great chance for your student to learn responsibility and record the minutes that they read at home. Have your child record all the minutes and books read.
Q: How can my student log in to Xtramath or Tenmarks at home?
A: The easiest answer to this is to let your student log into the Chrome web browser with his/her littleblue.usu.edu google account. This is the same password the kids use to log in to their chromebooks at school. It will remember any password that they have saved at school. This will let them get into Xtramath or Tenmarks without having to know each individual password.
