KA
Dear KA Families,
We are now in the month focusing on the IB Learner Profile: Thinker. A thinker is someone who uses their head--they are decisive, and take action to solve problems. We have been looking closely to see who we can celebrate as a thinker. We noticed that KA students are really start to apply their academic skills to different parts of the day. During indoor recess, students are choosing to write the morning message, play counting games, read a book, or check the temperature using our thermometer. It has been so exciting watching the spark in our young learners!
Warmly,
KA Teachers
Take Home Book Baggies
Starting this week we will be sending home books with your child over the weekend. Your child will bring home 3 books that he or she read over the course of the week, (plus a special book later on that you can read to your child, which will be above your child’s level). These take home books will give your child another opportunity to engage with texts at their independent reading level. Feel free to encourage your child to read it to you over the weekend and return it by Thursday in his/her book baggie.
Please note: this is not homework, as we do not assign homework in Kindergarten at BPCS. However, these are books your child will feel successful at reading and it would be a great opportunity for more practice. In order to go book shopping and receive new books, it is important that your child returns the books they took home over the weekend by the following Thursday.
Take Home Books Schedule
Friday: Books go home.
Saturday - Wednesday: Child reads books at home over the weekend.
Thursday: Books are returned back to class.
Friday: New books go home if previous books were returned.
We thank you in advance for your support in helping us to ensure that these books are returned to school each Thursday. Happy reading everyone!

Let's Celebrate!
Kindergarteners have been working very hard this semester and we would like to celebrate all their hard work with a celebration on Friday December 21st 2018.
On this day--our "Silly end to the year 2018," --students are invited to wear Silly Accessories (silly socks, silly hats, silly ties, silly glasses, Silly Shoes, Silly headbands etc). Students will still be required to wear their uniforms on this day.
As this is a special day, students will be doing silly math problems, reading silly books, and writing silly stories. Students will also have silly snack--if you would like to contribute any silly snacks to our celebration please reach out to the teachers via email: dteska@brooklynprospect.org.
Please remember if you are bringing in snacks we are a nut-free classroom.
Thank you,
Kindergarten Teachers
