Dear Esteemed Parents and Guardians,
I hope this message finds you well and that the back-to-school season has been smooth for both you and your children. As we step into the new academic year with great enthusiasm, I am excited to extend a heartfelt invitation to all of you to join us in experiencing the elevated level of community and education we are fostering at College Park Elementary.
We firmly believe that a strong sense of community and engaging educational experiences go hand in hand to create a well-rounded learning environment for our students. We have an array of engaging events and activities planned that embody this philosophy, and we would be honored to have you witness them firsthand.
Community and Education Events for August & September:
August 21.2023 Carnival Curriculum Night 5:30pm-7pm : Join us for an interactive workshop on Student Agency, Our House System & Advanced & Accelerated Curriculum led by your child's teacher. This event is designed to showcase how we are expanding the horizons of our students' education through real-world insights and hands-on learning. We will also announce the winner of the naming of our school anthem title.
Sept 7 & 8.2023 House Sorting Day: You're cordially invited to our House Sorting Day, where the magic of community, learning, and friendship come alive. Witness the thrill as our 5th graders spin the wheel of destiny & Prek-4th graders experience their count down party set to reveal their lifelong house – Altruismo, Amistad, Isibindi, or Rêvuer. Feel the excitement as they embrace their houses with spirited chants and embark on a journey of togetherness. Join us for a day of joy, unity, and unforgettable moments. See you there! 🎈🌟 5th Grade 9.7.23 12:30pm-2pm Prek-4th Grade 9.8.23 during their Specials Time.
Sept .21.23 Annual Title 1 Mtg 5:30pm-6pm & House Family Expo 6pm-7pm : We will review our Title 1 status and improvement plan, directly followed by our family house event w/friendly family competitions. Win points for your house! Parents, practice your house cheers. Parents wear your Parent house pins, and everyone wear their house colors.
We are committed to fostering a strong partnership between the school and our parents, as your involvement is vital to the success of our students. We believe that by sharing these special moments with you, we can collectively contribute to the holistic development of our students.

Curriculum Night August 31
Parents come out and learn our new House Chants, learn about our school goals, and have some fun with interactive activities and games. Curriculum Night is August 31 from 5:30pm-7:00pm.
School Anthem Title Will Be Announced At Curriculum Night
The results for our school anthem will be announced this Thursday, August 31, during Curriculum Night. Thank you to everyone that voted for a title for our new school's anthem.
3-5th Grade Parents What Are Your Plans For Sept. 6?
Great news Fulton County Schools has partnered with Callanwolde Art Scholars for a FREE art day on September 6. There is no school that day and all 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade scholars are encouraged to attend. ACT FAST, this opportunity is only available for the first 50 scholars who register.

FCS continues to partner with the Metro Atlanta Policy Lab for Education (MAPLE) at Georgia State University to gain insight into the impacts of the pandemic. We wish to better understand students' experiences during and after the pandemic to understand better and meet our students' needs moving forward. Lit For Literacy Every Child Reads
This week at College Park, we highlighted literacy. 5th grade scholars learned about identifying text evidence within a story. Second grade scholars practiced Heggerty Phoneme segmentation & using finger stretching to help identify how many sound are in a word.
