Youth Organization for Lights Out

Light Pollution Project

What is Youth Organization for Lights Out (YOLO)?

Y.O.L.O. is an environmental justice program learning about light pollution with a focus on human health. The program is located at World Language High School, part of the Little Village Lawndale High School Campus.

This ten-week program will empower you to participate in the scientific inquiry process as you collect, analyze, and share results of your light pollution investigations through civic action and community advocacy. You will also develop a prototype solution and action plans to increase awareness of light pollution.

You will also have the opportunity to view three different stages as to how global citizens view urban and rural night skies. In addition to learning to use data collecting tools.

You will become very familiar with the International Dark Sky Association.
