Bellview Elementary School
School Advisory Council
Would you like to be a part of our 2018-2019 School Advisory Council? We would love for you to join us! We will have our first meeting on September 5th at 3:00 p.m. We'd love to have you there!
Our school vision is that BES will be a place where the entire school community is valued and encouraged to contribute to a flexible and caring learning environment.
This year, we look forward to including our families more with our school goals.
The calendar above gives a glimpse at our first semester family engagement activities.
We are Readers!
This year, our main school improvement goal is to create authentic reading opportunities and experiences for students. To simplify this goal, we are sending the message to students and families that "We are Readers!" Above all else, we want students that have a love for reading and we'd like to help support you and them reach this goal this year! Some things we will be doing to reach this goal are...
- A school-wide read aloud during each semester; this semester's read aloud is A Whole New Ballgame!
- WIN time (What I Need) where students work on project based learning and use research skills to learn about topics of interest to them
- Selection of foundational skills and make and take activities for parents during Open House
This year, you might hear your children talking about "going to WIN time!" WIN time stands for "What I Need" time. During this time, a scheduled time for each grade level, all students work on improving their reading skills in a way that they need. Some students might receive reading interventions this time, some might receive a little bit of extra help with a teacher on their grade level, and others might participate in Project-Based Learning where they incorporate science and social studies content into a project that they do research on. We also have time scheduled with our guidance counselor and behavior coach during this time, if students need it.
All adults that wish to volunteer on our campus, at field trips, in classrooms must go through the volunteer training and complete the volunteer application each year. Please plan to come in on September 6th at 8:30 a.m. or 1:00 p.m. If neither of these dates/times work, please contact the school and leave a message for Mrs. Carroll, she can schedule a future session for a group of interested volunteers.

Join us for Open House! Meet us in the cafeteria at 5:30 followed by classroom visits beginning at 6:00. Plan to visit your oldest child's classroom first.
Focus Parent Portal
Do you have a Focus Parent Portal account? This is how you can stay up to date on your child's grades and assignments. If you have never registered for an account, the link is below. You will need your child's SS number to register and if you did not provide that to the school for registration, you will have to have us attach that number to your child first. Just stop by the front office with your child's SS# and we can help you out!
The Book Fair is Coming
The book fair will take place from October 1st-5th! Students will be able to visit the book fair during the school day if they have money on them to purchase books. We will also have a Literacy Night on October 4th where families can visit the book fair and enjoy a night themed around our school-wide read aloud A Whole New Ballgame!
