Pratt's Primary Corner

Weekly Update- September 15, 2017

Week at a Glance

Reading- This week we've really been focusing on non-fiction text features as we continue learning about maps. Miss Pratt has been so impressed with how much we already know about non fiction text features.

Math- We have moved into addition and subtraction story problems. We used numberless word problems this week to really focus on comprehending our story problems. We've also been focusing on the many strategies our classmates have used to solve problems. We will have a math test over unit one on Friday 9/22.

Social Studies- This week we've focused on different types of maps, specifically physical maps. Students should know the difference between physical and political maps. We started reading a book about landforms, and next week will focus on the parts of a map.

Writing- We are full of great ideas for our opinion writing unit! We've been learning how important it is to give reasons and examples to support our opinions. Next week we will read two informational texts and write an opinion based on the information we learned.

Click here to see the homework menu for the week. You only have to chose one activity from each column. Remember, it's not due until next Friday and the Design Challenge is optional.
