PRINCIPALS FOR A DAY
Grade 3 - Mrs. Shevlin's Class
Grade 4 - Mrs. Parent's Class
Grade 5 - Dr. Freedman's Class
Mrs. Slarve and Mrs. Tighe's 5th Grade Classes
Mrs. Slarve and Mrs. Tighe’s classrooms engaged in a chess themed day inspired by the Disney movie, Queen of Katwe. This was a true story about the rise of a young girl from poverty in Uganda to become a chess master, winning international competitions.
After watching the movie, we were all excited to play! Whether a beginner at chess or a frequent player of the game, all students participated in the fun. We had some competitive matches going on while other students observed or learned through online tutorials. Here are some pictures from our day. Hat tip to Mrs. Carey for providing a list of math themed movies which brought Queen of Katwe to our attention.

A NOTE FROM OUR NURSES ABOUT STUDENT PHYSICAL EXAMS
Dear Parents/Guardians of Grade 3 Students,
Under Massachusetts General Law, Mansfield Public Schools requires documentation of physical exams in grades Pre K, K, 4, 7, 10 and each year for high school sports eligibility. All students entering Grade 4 in the fall (school, year 2022 - 2023) are required to provide the school with a copy of a recent physical exam.
We will accept any exam done after January 2022 (second half of 3rd grade and any exam taking place during the 4th grade year). Please send a copy to your school nurses’ office after the exam takes place.
If your child is due for a physical, please schedule this as soon as possible. If you need any information regarding the above requirements or would like information about health insurance, please call the Jordan/Jackson Health Office at (508) 261-7520.
