From The Principal's Desk
Tēnā koutou katoa,
I trust you enjoyed a fantastic long weekend with the family and some fine weather. Just to clarify for anyone who is still wondering about the extra day, the Easter Tuesday holiday has in fact been a legal requirement for all state schools for many years, although as it happens the last time it fell outside the school holidays was 2008, which is why it may seem like an unusual occurence.
In any event, it no doubt offered a timely break for our returning Y6 teachers, parent helpers and students from Camp Adair. As Y6 parents will no doubt have heard, the children had a fantastic time working together and enjoying some challenging outdoor education in the spectacular setting of the Hunua Ranges. I would like to thank all those who made it such a success, particularly to a great group of parents, the Y6 teaching team, and Teresa for overseeing as Camp Leader.
Once again, it was fantastic to see the children stepping up and stepping out of their comfort zone a little, encouraging and supporting one another, which is always examplifies our school values in action.
I'd also like to say well done to all of our outstanding runners in the Junior Fun Run last week! While we try to emphasise having fun and participation over the competitive element for our younger children, we certainly saw some outstanding performances to be congratulated and some great promise for future Interschool events!

Cycling All Cycling Enthusiasts!
In the coming months, the board will begin setting out an overarching 'Vision Plan' for the school, including classroom upgrades and further development of outdoor spaces to maximise learning and recreational opportunities for the children.
As part of this, we are currently developing some key proposals for the board to consider, including the development of cycle tracks on the school grounds. If you would be keen to work with the school, with support and expertise from the Bikes in Schools Trust, to explore the possibilities and help develop a plan for the Board to consider, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
