Police Department Activities
Major incidents reported to the department for the week of April 20, 2022 through April. 26, 2022:
April 20: Sgt. Candelaria, Sgt. Brundridge, and Officer Montijo contacted peddlers going door-to-door in Mountain Gate and notified them that peddler’s licenses are required per Town code. The Police Department hasn’t issued any licenses so anyone selling door-to-door is unauthorized. If a seller has a license, they are required to wear it on a lanyard in clear view. Please report unlicensed peddlers by calling dispatch.
- April 20: A Clarkdale resident and business owner reported ongoing harassment over social media. Officer Deming is investigating.
April 20: A Lamplighter Village resident is out $9,000 after falling for a scam via computer virus. There are no leads.
- April 20: A resident of Centerville reported the theft of 50-75 sheets of plywood. Officer Montijo is investigating.
- April 21: Officer Deming handled a domestic violence incident between a couple at their home in Mountain Gate. The woman was arrested for assault and disorderly conduct per domestic violence. The man was cited and released for the same charges. Detective Godina assisted.
April 22: Sgt. Candelaria and Chief Taylor are handling complaints about RV camping at the Moose Lodge and the Elks Lodge.
- April 23: Officer Deming checked out a suspicious intoxicated person at Olsen’s Grain after hours. The man was arrested for three outstanding warrants, possession of drug paraphernalia, refusing to identify to law enforcement, and taking the identity of another.
Calls at the RAPs
Verde River Ambassadors continue to report cows at the river to officers for follow-up with the rancher. The rancher intends to move the cows to a different ranch by June.

Gardening workshop
The "Welcoming Birds & Butterflies to Your Backyard" workshop and garden tour is back. Master Gardener Jim Mast will present this popular workshop in a two-part series. The workshop will be held on May 18 from 9 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. in the Clark Memorial Clubhouse Men’s Lounge.
