New website in the works

The Town of Clarkdale is launching its new website on May 3. Staff is making needed adjustments to the pages and will continue this process after the launch. The website will have improved features for public use. Please be patient as we move through this process.

Police Department Activities

Major incidents reported to the department for the week of April 20, 2022 through April. 26, 2022:

  • April 20: Sgt. Candelaria, Sgt. Brundridge, and Officer Montijo contacted peddlers going door-to-door in Mountain Gate and notified them that peddler’s licenses are required per Town code. The Police Department hasn’t issued any licenses so anyone selling door-to-door is unauthorized. If a seller has a license, they are required to wear it on a lanyard in clear view. Please report unlicensed peddlers by calling dispatch.

  • April 20: A Clarkdale resident and business owner reported ongoing harassment over social media. Officer Deming is investigating.
  • April 20: A Lamplighter Village resident is out $9,000 after falling for a scam via computer virus. There are no leads.

  • April 20: A resident of Centerville reported the theft of 50-75 sheets of plywood. Officer Montijo is investigating.
  • April 21: Officer Deming handled a domestic violence incident between a couple at their home in Mountain Gate. The woman was arrested for assault and disorderly conduct per domestic violence. The man was cited and released for the same charges. Detective Godina assisted.
  • April 22: Sgt. Candelaria and Chief Taylor are handling complaints about RV camping at the Moose Lodge and the Elks Lodge.

  • April 23: Officer Deming checked out a suspicious intoxicated person at Olsen’s Grain after hours. The man was arrested for three outstanding warrants, possession of drug paraphernalia, refusing to identify to law enforcement, and taking the identity of another.

Calls at the RAPs
  • Verde River Ambassadors continue to report cows at the river to officers for follow-up with the rancher. The rancher intends to move the cows to a different ranch by June.

  • April 27: The Police Department is holding open test day for candidates for lateral police officer and police recruit. The candidates are participating in physical fitness testing, essay and skills written test, and oral board interviews.

The next Primary Election will be held on Aug. 2, 2022. Two Council Member seats will be on the ballot. Council Members are elected to four-year terms with no term limits.

Part time opportunity

The Town is currently hiring for Ambassadors. Starting pay is $12.80 per hour and the position works less than 20 hours per week. Part Time Verde River Ambassadors assist visitors and support recreational activities at The Town of Clarkdale and the Verde River Access Points (RAPs) while ensuring safety, preservation, stewardship and responsible use of these areas.

Gardening workshop

The "Welcoming Birds & Butterflies to Your Backyard" workshop and garden tour is back. Master Gardener Jim Mast will present this popular workshop in a two-part series. The workshop will be held on May 18 from 9 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. in the Clark Memorial Clubhouse Men’s Lounge.
