Parent Connections

Welcome to Greenfield Parent Connections! We are proud to share with you the Continuous Growth Plans from each school and ways you can support learning at home.

Every year, members from each building get together over the summer to discuss goals for the upcoming school year to support student and teacher learning and development. Each school revisits, reflects, and collects evidence of meeting their goals multiple times throughout the year.

Below, you will see examples of goals, rationales for those goals, and actionable steps.

Big picture

Strategic Goal:

We will upgrade our use of learning targets, common assessments, and feedback which will ultimately result in instruction that supports self-directed learning.

Rationale:

We realized in our work with goal-setting that we needed to take a step back, and get really clear on what kids need to know and be able to do, and make sure that we communicate that clearly with kids.
Big picture

Strategic Goal:

Based on Data-informed G21 Impact: Improve self-direction skills and dispositions through inquiry based approaches to learning.

Rationale:

How do we increase the excitement of learning at Elm Dale?

Regular implementation of inquiry and other strategies to meet each learner’s needs in a student centered way so that they feel safe and heard so they can be successful.

Big picture

Strategic Goal:

Students will become empowered and take ownership of their learning experiences that honor choice, voice and risks through reflection, self-assessment and joyful, authentic learning opportunities.

Rationale:

In order for students to embrace and grow in G21 skills, it is necessary for us as educators to give them opportunities to practice, reflect and refine these skills in the classroom through experiences and opportunities that are authentic and engaging.

Contemporary Learning

Big picture

Strategic Goal:

Students will show self-directed learning by using feedback to accurately self-assess.

Rationale:

In order to increase accurate self-assessment, feedback will be centered on being purposeful, impactful, and actional between students to encourage growth.
Big picture

Strategic Goal:

As a result of educators’ emphasis on strengthening students’ social-emotional learning, along with academics, students will improve their health, happiness, and prosperity within self and others.

Big picture

Strategic Goal:

Students seek and use feedback, reflection and metacognitive practices to learn and grow.

Rationale:

In order for students to embrace and grow in Self Directed Learning, it is necessary for us to give them opportunities to practice, reflect and refine these skills in the classroom through experiences and opportunities that are authentic and engaging.
