Notes from the Administration

Now that we've entered the month of May and the weather is getting warmer, it's tempting to feel as though the school year is winding down. We still have 6 weeks of instruction ahead of us and we plan to use every moment! Please continue to ensure that your student is at school on time each day so we can continue to learn until the very last day!

On May 16th, 2019, we are hosting our annual Career Day for our 5th grade students and we need your help! We are looking for individuals who are passionate about their careers to come and share your life’s work with our wonderful students. Each year, our 5th graders get to explore a variety of career choices they might have never considered, broadening their interests and sparking their curiosity in career exploration. Each speaker will be given a sheet of talking points and will speak for five, 20 minute sessions. If you are able to participate in this great day, please reach out to our School Counselors, Carleigh Rich or Lisa Reese at 240-236-3135 for more details. Thank you!

PARCC Testing Begins

Our third, fourth, and fifth graders began taking PARCC (Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers) on Wednesday, April 24. Each grade level will take four individual tests each in the areas of math and language arts. We have created a schedule that minimizes disruption of the school day and has students testing in short sessions on appointed days. As we will be testing in the mornings, we appreciate your consideration when scheduling outside appointments from now through May 17.
