PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
I hope everyone has been able to go online and enter their course selections into Skyward. I know the new system still has a lot of bugs to work through, so I thank you for your patience.
A huge shout out to the academic UIL team with their dominating win for District Champion. This is such an impressive group with dedication and talent. Congrats!
I want to remind everyone to please not drop off food for anyone other than their own children. We have had some trying to drop off large amounts for their kid and their friends but this really is not allowed. Their are too many variables, such as dietary restrictions and food allergies that we have to take into account.
Don't forget that after track season, we will be starting soccer for the first time at the middle school level in NEISD. If you have not been playing sports for the school this year, you must fill out some forms and get a physical or you will not even be able to try out. Each team will be capped at 25 and the Reagan High School coach will be down here helping evaluate for the final cuts. Good luck to all that try out!

10th Annual Ian's Cup
Ian's Foundation was formed in memory of Ian Fincke who tragically passed away at the age of 16, in October of 2008 as the result of fatal wounds sustained during a skateboarding accident. Ian was a previous student at Hardy Oak Elementary, Barbara Bush Middle School and both Reagan and Johnson High Schools. The foundation was formed to advance the safety and welfare of San Antonio youth through education and scholarship awards. To date almost $50,000 in scholarships has been awarded. Ian's Foundation also promotes helmet safety and has given out over 1,450 helmets in San Antonio and the surrounding areas. Ian's Foundation also supports STRAPS (South Texas Regional and Paralympic Sports). STRAPS was inspired by Ian's Foundation as a way to allow anyone in San Antonio with physical disabilities the opportunity to enjoy the game of soccer. You can read more about the foundation at www.IansFoundation.org.
We will be offering our annual spring soccer clinic for the San Antonio youth as one of our major fundraisers for the Ian's Cup scholarship fund. The clinic will be held on Sunday, February 17th at the Mays YMCA from 2-4PM (with registration from 1:30-2:00) The cost of the clinic is $30 if pre-registered and $35 the day of the clinic. It will include a 2hr clinic as well as a 2019 Ian's Cup t-shirt. The deadline for t-shirt pre-orders and pre-registration for the soccer clinic to ensure a 2019 Ian's Cup t-shirt the day of the clinic is Sunday, February 10th. Trainers will include local high school coaches, club trainers and high school soccer players from Johnson and Reagan, as they must volunteer at one of the foundation's community service events to be eligible for a scholarship. This year's soccer clinic falls on what would have been Ian's 27th birthday. You can help make this the most memorable Ian's Cup Clinic to date with an amazing birthday celebration in his memory. Register today! You can read more about the events at www.IansCup.org.
Reagan Dance Information Meeting
Hello Future Rattlers!
We are so excited to have you join the Reagan Family next year. I wanted to share two dance opportunities available to you next year, the Charmer Pep Squad and Fine Arts Dance 1.
Charmer Pep Squad (Pep Squad 1-Course 7402)
Extracurricular Spirit Program that will include summer/after school practices, numerous performance opportunities, supporting our athletic programs, building friendships with your team, competing in the spring, student leadership, and requires a financial commitment. Students will help promote school spirit through team traditions in addition to learning basic jazz/ballet fundamentals (leaps, turns, performance quality). Students will receive training with the goal of auditioning for our Junior Varsity and Varsity Dance Teams at the end of their freshman year.
Fine Arts Dance (Principles of Dance 1-Course 7421)
Introductory dance class offered during the school day. Curriculum will include principles of ballet, modern, and jazz dance in addition to anatomy, flexibility, social dance, and elements of choreography. Does not require any outside rehearsals and does not require a financial commitment with the exception of daily classroom workout attire which includes any black athletic bottoms (leggings, sweatpants, capris), any Reagan t-shirt, and jazz shoes (approx $30.00).
If you would like more information or are ready to be a Charmer Pep Squad member, please join us at our Pep Squad Informational Meeting on Tuesday, March 26 at 6:00 pm in the Reagan HS cafeteria. We will review all expectations, calendars, and finances for the year. If you are unable to attend the meeting, please email me at bmcgil@neisd.net so I can send you information prior to our new team fitting on April 11.
No previous dance experience is required, just an excitement to learn something new!
Come dance with us!

Spurs HYPE SQUAD Spirit Day
My name is Stratton Stiefvater and I grew up in San Antonio. I went to the following NEISD schools: Longs Creek Elementary, Bradley Middle School, Churchill High School. I graduated from Churchill as Magna Cum Laude and one of the cheerleading captains. I currently attend UTSA as a mathematics major. I am a current member of the inaugural San Antonio Spurs Hype Squad. I perform at the Spurs home games, and run games and promotions. The Spurs Hype Squad is having a “Spirit Day” on February 23. The “Spirit Day” welcomes anyone ages 5-18. The clinic will consist of teaching cheer, dance, and break dancing (all for boys and girls). All of the information that anyone needs to know about the clinic will be on the website "spurs.com/spiritday”. I have attached a picture that I am asking you to forward to all teachers and parents of your school. The “Spirit Day” clinic will be so much fun and if any children attend the clinic, they have the opportunity to perform at the Spurs vs. Wizards on the court. The deadline to register for the clinic is February 22nd, but the sooner the better! I thank you so much for your time and attention.
If you have any questions, feel free to email me back at this email (strattonmarlee@yahoo.com)
