Food Science Class Update
November 30, 2015
DID YOU KNOW?
My blog has pictures of instructions students see on the board every day. If your child is not at school s/he can always check my blog to see what we are doing that day.
Semester Exam Exemptions
Beginning today,Monday, November 30th, Exam Exemption Forms are available in the Receptionist's Office for students. Students may request an exemption in up to three classes where they meet the attendance and grade requirements. All Exam Exemption Forms must be turned in completed and signed to the Receptionist's Office by the end of the day on Friday, December 4th.
FYI: Students probably do not want to exempt Food Science, as we will be making homemade pasta for the exam.
Pizza Lab
After making cinnamon rolls, students enjoyed showing off their "dough" skills by making pizza.
Holiday Pies
Students made wonderful pies the week before Thanksgiving. They all have the assignment to make a pie at home sometime between November 16 and December 14.
Cream Puffs
Cream puffs can be really hard to do, but most groups did a great job. We learned how to do the filling which can also be a cream filling for pies, doughnuts, or a pudding.
Grades
Grades closed before the Thanksgiving break for the 6 week progress reports. Progress reports will be issued this Friday, December 4. All missing work related to our leavening agents unit needs to be turned in by December 11. Grades for the semester close on December 18.
THANK YOU FOR VOTING FOR THE BOND.
What this means for Food Science:
The ABC building and the Career and Tech building (the 2 original school buildings) will be torn down and redone. This will take several years, but it is definitely a needed improvement. I look forward to seeing our new kitchens in a few years!
