Amazing Summer Program at Stanford!
Application Deadline: MAY 29
American Language and Culture (ALC): Silicon Valley Program
VIA's ALC Program combines academic English classes with educational activities aimed at exploring contemporary American culture. The English classes, offered by the Stanford Language Center, are designed to improve students' oral communication in English while providing analysis of a variety of sociocultural issues especially in the Silicon Valley area. The educational activities such as volunteering and visiting companies add a rich experiential element to the students' learning. This year's program will be held from July 31 till Aug. 27, 2016.
Improve your Academic English skills through classes and sociology lectures, and receive 3 units of credit from Stanford University upon successful completion of the course.
Tour an innovative company in Silicon Valley to experience the work life and culture. Additionally, you will have an opportunity to volunteer at a non-profit organization.
Explore San Francisco, attend a Major League Baseball game or a musical (Phantom of the Opera for 2015!), visit an amusement park at the beach, and experience other fantastic events!
Participant Voice（Heng Tang）
"The ALC program opened the door to a summer school with diverse students and opportunities for thorough English practice and social communication. ALC was exactly the kind of program I was longing for. And in fact, it turned out to be one of the best decisions I have ever made. After the program, I decided to study Japanese. Every time when I hear myself speaking in Japanese, I feel closer to my ALC friends from Japan. Through the program I experienced that close human connections is what can make things different.”
