Pick A Reading Partner (PARP)- Final Week!

For the last few weeks, we've been celebrating the joy of reading with a partner through PARP. I hope you had time to add to the SEM Padlet- a digital bulletin board where families are sharing their favorite books to read together. Check it out here: Have you found time each day to scan the QR codes on the calendar and visit the PARP newsletter of the day? If you missed any, or aren't able to use a QR code reader, you can check out the school's website for links to all of them: There is still time for your child to earn a place in the Rockin' Reader Hall of Fame! 3 badges must be earned to qualify: The Shelfie Badge, The Library Love Badge, and the Fantastic Facts Badge.

What Are We Learning?

Reading: We are finishing up our unit on Mysteries! We've enjoyed reading Bones, Nancy Drew, Cam Jansen, The Clubhouse Mysteries, and A to Z Mysteries. We are beginning our study on learning how to read informational texts.

Writing: We just completed our literary essay unit. We will be exploring our writer's notebooks more, continuing to blog, and soon we will start writing our own informational book! We also wrote letters to our penpals in Mrs. Werner's class in Wisconsin.

Fundations: We will be reviewing open syllables and learning open syllable exceptions.

Math: We are in the middle of Module 4, studying area! We are also learning our multiplication tables by heart and taking fluency quizzes to see if we can multiply with speed and accuracy.

Science: We are studying plant and animal life cycles.

Social Studies: We will be presenting the Google Slides we made about different countries in Library.

Character Education: This month's trait is "empathy" and it will also be our word of the week. Empathy is such an important trait to develop!
