A NOTE FROM PRINCIPAL GUETTER
I hope you all had a safe and happy New Year.
With 2020 in the rear-view mirror, we have some information to share regarding our upcoming learning model change at the ROCORI secondary building.
On Monday, January 11th, the secondary building will be moving to a modified hybrid schedule. This model will be very similar to the hybrid model we used during trimester one, with a few minor changes. Students will still attend school on the A/B schedule (attached) with the regular daily schedule for RMS (8:15-3:00) and RHS (8:10-3:00). Friday 1/15 and 1/29 will be distance learning days on an early out schedule to allow us to implement Executive Order 20-94.
Our modified hybrid schedule will also allow students to be in contact with their classes every day. On the days they are “at home”, students will be logging in for attendance each period and following the teacher's instructions for the day. These lessons and instructions may be adjusted for each class based on the content area, activity for the day, previous day progress/lesson or tests and quizzes. Teachers will continue to communicate with students on the specific activities for each class each day.
On Monday 1/11 and Tuesday 1/12, we will be handing out carrying cases for our MacBooks. Students should be using these cases to transport their MacBook to and from school and between classes during the day. RMS students will receive their cases in their science class and RHS will receive them in the commons after lunch. We ask that students do not bring their MacBooks on these two days (Monday and Tuesday) to ensure they are in the cases when they do arrive at school. Starting on Wednesday 1/13, all students will bring thier MacBook to school every day fully charged.
We will continue to follow our COVID protocol from our previous hybrid schedule. Masks are still required while in the building as well as our modified lunch schedule and one-way traffic in the hall during passing time. Please continue to report COVID related information (Positive Cases & Quarantine) to the secondary office (685-8683) or e-mail Matt Bueckers at bueckersm@rocori.k12.mn.us
Thank You for your continued support.
Have a great weekend.
LEARNING MODEL CHANGE INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS
On Monday, January 11th, we will be making a learning model change at RMS and RHS. We will move to a Modified Hybrid schedule. This will be slightly different from the hybrid schedule we were in during trimester one.
During our hybrid A/B days, we will return to our regular daily schedule for both RMS (8:15-3:00) and RHS (8:10-3:00). With the deployment of MacBooks, students will now be checking in, taking attendance, and attending class each period on their “at home” learning day. Each class may look a little different depending on the subject area, topic for the day, and lesson planned. Teachers will communicate the daily expectations to students for the class.
Students out due to COVID related issues can still log into class daily for attendance and work with your teacher to stay as up to date as possible on class material while you are out.
On Friday, January 15th and Friday January 29th, we will incorporate Distance Learning Days. On these two days, all students will be distance learning (similar Wednesday-Friday of this week) on an adjusted schedule. Below is the adjusted schedule for the 15th and 29th of January.

MACBOOK EXPECTATIONS IN THE CLASSROOM
Monday 1/11 & Tuesday 1/12
On Monday and Tuesday, we are asking students to leave thier MacBooks at home. We need to issue cases to all students to use as they transport their MacBooks from home to school and from class to class. These are protective cases the district is supplying to help prevent damage to the devices. RMS students will receive their cases in their science classes and RHS students will get their cases in the commons after they eat lunch.
Starting Wednesday, January 13th, all students are expected to bring their MacBooks to school each day, fully charged, in their cases to use during class when needed. You will receive additional information next week regarding service for your MacBook should you need it.
