8th Grade IGP Meetings - Schedule Yours Today!

In South Carolina, all 8th grade students work with parents/guardians and school counselors to create an Individual Graduation Plan (IGP). This plan outlines the courses necessary for the student to successfully prepare for graduation and transition into a professional or post-secondary educational experience. Appointments are required so please schedule your appointment online using the link below or email Mrs. Ava Long at along@spart7.org. All IGP meetings should be completed by March 31, so schedule yours today!

Trap Vaccine Required for ALL Rising 7th Grade Students!

Parents if you did not participate in the Tdap Vaccination Clinic at MMS on April 28th, please remember to schedule an appointment with your health care provider as soon as possible. These appointments are hard to get and so scheduling early is very important. As soon as this is completed we need for you to drop off the updated vaccination record to the school no later than July 31. Remember we need this updated vaccination record so that your child can attend school in August and receive a schedule at orientation.

Cold And Flu Season Is Still Here... Just a few reminders!

After the holidays and long weekends we begin to see an increase in Cold and Flu with our students. Just a few reminders to keep us all healthy:
  • Students must be fever free for 24 hours without the assistance of a fever reducer before returning to school. Please keep children at home until that time.
  • For confirmed flu, you will need to contact our school nurse for specific guidelines for returning to school.
  • Drink lots of water, rest and frequent hand washing will help prevent illness for your child.
  • Cough or sneeze into the crook of your arm.
  • These illnesses are very contagious and following these simple guidelines will help keep everyone healthy.

Thank you for your help.

Social Media Tips and Sites for Parents

Parenting middle school students is an amazing journey and social media has become a big part of that parent adventure. Most of the time social media is a fun way for teens and tweens to connect and communicate with each other and you using personal devices. FaceBook and Twitter are now parent places while Instagram, Tumblr, Vine and SnapChat are the hangouts for teens now. Being aware of where your child is going on their personal devices and helping to keep them safe are all important for the parent of today's teen. I hope you will use these sites as conversation starters and tools with your student. I hope you find these helpful.

This site has a wealth of information about the meaning of music lyrics, movie content and reasons for ratings, trending social media sites and other ways to keep your child safe on the internet. Included is information on safe and unsafe social media sites for your student.
