A message from the Principal
To our Suffield Families:
I want to remind you that each child, regardless of family income, now can access FREE breakfast and lunch each school day. Breakfast begins at 8:30, so your child can be dropped off to eat at that time or he/she can ride the bus and can leave the bus for breakfast as soon as it arrives. If your child is typically a picky eater, but would like to try some of the school lunches, go ahead and pack him/her a lunch and then also tell your child they can buy a lunch. They will need to sign up in the morning to buy, but will then have a backup plan in case they don't like what's being offered. This is a good way to try out "buying" without a great expense or disappointment. I can assure you that our lunches at school are wonderful!!
Have a wonderful weekend,
Mrs. Bookman

employment opportunities
We are hiring substitute teachers and paraprofessionals. If you have a 4-year college degree in anything, you can obtain a substitute license and get set up to be a sub in our district. or school.
A paraprofessional is a person who supports students in the classroom. There is NO degree requirement. Paraprofessionals work in special education classrooms and in the general education classrooms. They may also help supervise the playground and/or cafeteria at times. If you are looking for a flexible schedule, please consider this option. You can work where and when you want! Please let us know if you have a desire to know more about this!
2019/20 YEARBOOKS FOR SALE
Conference Sign-Ups-Please consider Zoom
It’s that time of year when we begin to make plans for the upcoming conferences. Because it’s been so long since our students have been in school, this will be one of the most important conferences you can attend. This year, conferences are being held on Thursday, November 12 from 4:30-8:00 pm and on Tuesday, November 17 from 4:30-8:00 pm. We will be available to meet with parents in-person or via Zoom. When choosing a conference time, please type ZOOM next to your child’s name if you would desire this option. The teacher will then share the link with you before your conference. If you wish to attend in person, just write your child’s name and we will expect you at school. The link for you to sign up for conferences has been emailed and texted to you. Only parents/guardians will be permitted in the building for conferences. Please do not bring children with you. We appreciate you considering the Zoom option! Thank you!

Children's Advantage at Suffield
Counselor's corner
Hello Field Families!
This month in our character development lessons we are going to be working on building our coping skills tool boxes! We need coping skills or coping strategies to help us when things are difficult. They help us build our resiliency! Resiliency is our ability to bounce back from stress and when something bad happens. The more resiliency that kids have the better they are able to adapt to change, work through difficult situations and are overall a healthier child. Building up your child coping skills toolbox can help them develop the skills they need to become more resilient and have better self management skills. Ask your child about their favorite coping skills and share yours with them too!
Also please join me for Coffee with the Counselor November 20th at 8am! I will be hosting a zoom talking about anxiety in our students and what we can be doing to help them through it! Check out my webpage to sign up for the link!

Crayola Colorcycle Program
Crayola and schools across North America have banded together to help kids understand the importance of their role in protecting the environment. Suffield Elementary will now take part in recycling markers that no longer work. It’s a super easy project to help our environment! You can send in any brand of markers, sharpies, dry erase, and highlighters. Once we collect the markers, they will be shipped to a facility that repurposes them so that they are kept out of the landfills.
