About Twitter
- Twitter is a social-networking & microblogging service that allows users to send short (140 characters or less) messages.
- For educators, Twitter is a Professional Learning Network open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Twitter 101: Getting Started
- Go to the sign up page on Twitter and create an account. https://twitter.com/signup
- You will need to provide your name, your school email address or a school gmail address that you have created, and you will need to create a password.
- Username examples: S9MrsMadison, S9GSAMadison, MrsMadisonS9GS
- Confirm your Twitter account via the email address you provided.
Note: Usernames can be changed later.
Don't be an Egg Head: Edit your Profile
- When logged into your account, click the gear symbol in the upper right corner.
- Click Settings.
- Click the Profile on the left menu of items.
- Update your photo and/or header image.
- Update your name, location, and/or bio (your job, interests, hobbies).
- Click the Save changes button.
Note: The bio and picture are public. This is how people will decide whether or not to follow you.
