National School Lunch Week! October 10-15
Training for all students on bullying
On October 12, all students will receive the annual student bullying training from Mrs. Fields during their specials time. Mrs. Fields will present the training and focus on what the term “bullying” means and how to respond to it. There will also be conversation regarding that “mean” and “rude” behavior, at times, can be mistaken for bullying. We thought that it would be helpful to share those meanings with parents, as well, so that you can support your child at home with these understandings. As always, please let us know if you have any questions or concerns. You can also check out the Leander ISD site on bully prevention.

PHE Silver Shoe- October 14
We're excited to announce Silver Shoe coming up on Friday October 14 during your child's PE class. This is an event where each grade class competes against each other to see who can run/walk the most laps in 20 minutes. This will take place outside on our track.
All laps will be recorded and the class with the highest average laps per student will be crowned the fastest class. Our class winner from each grade will have the honor to sign our Silver Shoe Trophy and display it in their classroom until the next event as well as have their picture taken to display in the PE hall.
To make this event successful, we are looking for volunteers to help run our event. If you are interested in helping, please click on the link below to sign up for a time slot to volunteer.

Counselor Corner- October
Hi Husky Families! Counseling services at PHE are off to a great start this year! Here are four visual tools with a brief description that are taught during K-5 counseling lessons throughout the year. These are utilized by teachers in the classroom, and they are also great tools to use at home! Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions about how to use these resources or if you need any additional support from our counseling program.
Unity Day will be celebrated at school on Friday, October 21. Students are encouraged to wear orange on this day to show that we are united as a campus that promotes kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. Our kindness club (C2) will help facilitate a presentation to students, and Mrs. Arnold has taught all of the students a kindness song that we will sing together as a campus. We will share videos and pictures of this special day with all of you via social media, so be on the lookout!
Also, Red Ribbon Week will be recognized the week of October 24.At the elementary level, we use this week to encourage students to make healthy choices with their bodies. Eating healthy foods, exercising, and getting plenty of rest improves learning, emotional regulation, and lowers the risk of developing many mental and physical illnesses. Dress-up days to celebrate this week will be shared soon!
Looking forward to a busy and FUN October at the Hill!!!

Let’s Learn with Bruce: Elections
In an effort to create educational awareness about the November ballot, Leander ISD is hosting a series of conversations. Superintendent Bruce Gearing, Ed.D., will lead a discussion about Propositions A & B over the next several weeks ahead of the November 8 election.
Due to sizable recent increases in property appraisals across our region, the district’s property values have reached a point that has triggered two elections: an Attendance Credit Election (ACE) and a Voter-Approval Tax Rate Election (VATRE).
We encourage the community at-large to learn more about these ballot issues during the following opportunities:
Friday, Sept. 30 – 8:00am at Hill Country Bible Church, Cedar Park
Wednesday, Oct. 5 – 12pm, virtual Zoom webinar (link coming soon
Wednesday, Oct. 19 – 6:30pm, Facebook LIVE
Friday, Oct. 21 – 12pm at LISD LEO Conference Center
Wednesday, Oct. 26 – 6:30pm, virtual Zoom webinar (link coming soon)
Please use this link Let’s Learn with Bruce: Elections to let us know you’re attending. While sign-up is not required, it helps us plan for how many participants to expect.
You can also check out this site for more Prop A&B plus election information!
