School Update
Dear Families,
We have enjoyed a full week at school and, as the pictures in this newsletter show, it was a vibrant one full of student activity and learning. Class field trips with an outdoor visit by Blue Canoe, a virtual session "Igniting Creativity through Art and Sound", and skating downtown at Market Square. We enjoyed learning more about the Olympics this week, following athlete stories, testing our knowledge with trivia, and cheering on countries in the events. Students have also been enjoying the return to school sports with the basketball season now started. LDSB and LESAA has recently been given the approval for return to play model that will include regular-season games. We have enjoyed the addition of intermural badminton this past week - students and staff can often be found in friendly competition in the gym.
We have welcomed back our Queen's teacher candidates, St. Lawrence Placement students, and high school co-op students. The addition of their energy and curiosity is very much appreciated. Their time in schools helps to grow them in their journey as educators and also helps us to further support student needs in our building. The partnership is one that is mutually responsive and one that we are happy to support at Lancaster.
It is with tremendous sadness that we share the news of the passing of Donna Jackson this weekend. Donna was a significant part of the life and history of Lancaster, serving over 50 years with the Limestone DSB and over 25 at Lancaster. We all have very special memories of her and she will be missed. Our sincere condolences to her family, and our Ms. Smith, Donna’s niece.
Your leaders in learning,
Lani Fox and Sara O'Hearn

KFL&A Masking Protocol Changes for LDSB
KFL&A has updated the masking protocol for schools. Students are no longer required to wear masks when they are outdoors and in their cohorts. This means that when students are outside with their class cohorts for phys. ed or for recess, they do not have to keep their masks on.
A reminder that arrival and dismissal times have many students crossing different areas of the yard to get to their cohort lineup spots. Students should keep their masks on until they get to their designated lineup with their class cohort. Masks are still required indoors and on school transportation. Staff will remind students to put their masks on prior to entering the school building and prior to boarding a school
Student Rapid Antigen Testing Kits
Rapid antigen test kits can be provided for students, and staff that develop symtoms at school. Please let us know if you require additional test kits if you are picking up a symptomatic student from school.
Please follow these instruction when using the Rapid Antigen Test Kit .
