Husky Happenings

Week of January 16th, 2023

Message from Mrs. Sheppard

Dear Graham Families,

This week is another short week! We are off tomorrow, January 16th to observe and celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's birthday.

Our school uses a program called The Positivty Project. Each week, students learn about a new character trait in their classroom. I am going to start sharing the traits that they will be learning about so that you can talk about them at home as a family. This week, we will focus on the character trait PRUDENCE. There is a parent letter that you can read through to learn about each trait.

As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me.

Girls on the Run is back at Graham!!! 3rd-5th grade girls may sign up.

Hello Husky Families!

We will be having a Girls on the Run team here at Graham this Spring. Registration is open and additional information can be found at the link below.

https://www.gotrdetroit.org/register-your-girl/

Girls on the Run is a positive program for girls in grades 3rd - 5th and we meet twice a week, Tuesday and Thursday, from 4 - 5:30 pm. We will talk and learn about topics such as positive self-talk, positive body image, peer pressure, etc. A fraction of each session we will work on various physical activities. At the end of the program, we will gather with other teams in our region, on Sunday, May 21st, and participate in a 5k. Girls and families can run, walk, hop, jump, etc. throughout the event. It is a big celebration of the amazing girls and their accomplishments! I have coached for approximately 10 years and it is incredibly rewarding for the girls and coaches alike.

You will see a fee for the program, however, there are several scholarships that are awarded. If cost is the only factor, please reach out to me and we will figure something out. No one is turned away due to financial reasons. I am looking forward to an amazing season and I hope to see many of our girls on the team!
