Lake ES has been an active participant in the Safe Routes to School (SRTS) programs for a number of years. The current P.E. teacher, Krissy Harmsma, keeps her students walking and rolling throughout the year in the Walk n Roll program, Nevada Moves, National Walk to School Day, and Bike to School Day. SRTS has also been out to Lake delivering important safety messages to the students during safety assemblies. This current school year, Lake ES is participating in the Everyone Rides Program. The Everyone Rides program is a 10- session program reviewing bicycling safety and handling skills. Schools use the Everyone Rides program bikes to implement a campus bike program.

Thank you Lake Elementary School for bringing the SRTS program to your school and educating your students on bike and pedestrian safety and for creating a fun environment for them to sharpen their skills. La escuela primaria Lake ha sido una participante activa en los programas de Rutas Seguras a la Escuela (Safe Routes to School – SRTS* por sus siglas en inglés) durante varios años. La maestra de Educación Física, Krissy Harmsma, mantiene a sus estudiantes caminando y activos durante todo el año en los programas Walk n Roll, Bike to School Day, National Walk to School Day, and Nevada Moves. SRTS también ha estado en la escuela Lake para comunicar mensajes importantes de seguridad a los estudiantes durante sus asambleas. Este año escolar actual, la Escuela Primaria Lake esta participando en el Programa Todos Montan (Everyone Rides). El programa Todos Montan es un programa de 10 sesiones que revisa la seguridad y habilidades al montar en bicicleta. Las escuelas usan las bicicletas del programa Todos Montan para implementar su propio programa en su escuela.

Safe Routes to School (SRTS) would like to welcome the first high school to register with the SRTS program, Desert Rose. Congratulations go out to Desert Rose HS for securing the Green Ambassador Grant award providing bicycles to their students.

The SRTS staff look forward to adding high schools to the list of schools educating their students on bicycle and pedestrian safety. At SRTS, we have fashioned the SRTS curriculum to include 9-12 grade logic and are excited to bring these educational and fun opportunities to Desert Rose and its students.

¡Bienvenidos a la Escuela Preparatoria de Desert Rose!

Rutas Seguras a la Escuela (SRTS* por sus siglas en inglés) quisiera dar la bienvenida a la primera escuela preparatoria que se inscribió en el programa de SRTS, la escuela Desert Rose. Felicitaciones a Rose por asegurar el premio Green Ambassador Grant que proporciono bicicletas a sus estudiantes.

El personal de SRTS anhela añadir más preparatorias a la lista de escuelas que educan a sus estudiantes sobre la seguridad en bicicleta y de peatones. En SRTS, hemos modificado el plan de estudios para incluir los grados 9 al 12, y estamos entusiasmados de llevar estas oportunidades educativas y divertidas a Desert Rose y a sus estudiantes.

Follow the rules of the road and obey signs and signals.

Walk on sidewalks whenever they are available.

Ride a bike that fits you; if you are too big, it is harder to control the bike.

Ride a bike that works; it really doesn't matter how well you ride if the brakes don't work.
