Congratulations, Reader of the Month!
Congratulations to 6th grader Luca Guzzetta for earning the highest number of points during the month of April! Luca is the first middle school student to earn the Reader of the Month award this school year. Who will be the Reader of the Month in May? It could be you--set a goal and read!
Library Temporarily Unavailable
AP testing is scheduled for May 2-13 from 8:00 AM--noon and noon-4:00 PM in the library. The library will be unavailable for printing and book/chromebook check-out while testing is in session. A basket will be located outside the library door for returning borrowed books/chromebooks, and a printer is available in the front office. The library will continue to be open for all students before school.
In the words of Sean Covey, "You are what you repeatedly do. Be excellent." Pictured above, students enjoy practicing and preparing for the state meet during advisory.
Congratulations to the TAPPS 4A Academics & Speech Team!
Congratulations! As a team, Bishop Gorman earned second place among 4A schools. Competing at state was a new experience for almost everyone...and the team is already looking forward to next year! Take a moment to view the results here on our school's TAPPS Academics & Speech Team homepage. Links to the PDFs of results for each category are located at the top of the page. Students who placed in their events will be presented with awards once we have received the last of the medals and ribbons. All students who competed will be recognized, and this will likely take place during the upcoming high school honors convocation.
Get ready to spend your AR points!
Time to celebrate reading! The AR Store will take place in the library on May 16 & 17, so get ready to spend your reading points on a variety of prizes big and small. What a great incentive to finish reading that overdue book you have been meaning to return! ;-) The cut-off date to earn points to spend at this store is Friday, May 13.
Newspaper Students Welcome the Class of 1970
Melissa Perez and Elizabeth Cater created a welcoming display of Tyler Morning Telegraph articles and student newspapers from the late 1960s and early 1970s. We hope that the Class of 1970 will enjoy a little walk down memory lane during their tour of our campus.
Once a Crusader, always a Crusader!
Wondering what to do about those overdues?
Turn them in by Friday, May 20 at 4 PM. No fines will be charged! This includes library books, magazines, headphones, and Chromebooks borrowed throughout the school year. On the following Monday, May 23, parents will be notified via email of overdue items that have not been returned by the due date.
THANK YOU Hayden & Laura Ludwig!
The Ludwig mother-daughter duo has volunteered countless hours in the library! From processing new arrivals to repairing old well-loved tomes, these wonderful ladies have made the library a wonderful place for students to read and study. A big congratulations to Hayden as she graduates and begins a new chapter in her education. We are sure she is going to enjoy her time studying in her new library at Norwich University!
Summer Reading Book Clubs
Don't miss out on this opportunity to read novels hand-picked by our English teachers for you to enjoy! Students who attend book clubs will read the novel and complete assigned reading activities. (Students will need to purchase and bring their own copy of the book.)
The English department envisions summer reading as a means for students to become lifelong readers, to develop a love of reading, to draw moral life lessons, to mature as effective and independent readers, and to gain experience with a variety of texts.
