Cankton Elementary students William K. and Jesiah C. were the winners of the Book Banner Contest held by the Armand Brinkhaus Community Library. They created a banner to represent The Whipping Boy and wrote a brief composition about why the book was a good read. Their banner will be hung in the library, and the students each received a prize of $25.

EUNICE JR HIGH SCHOOL

The Eunice Junior High School Science Club recently held its first meeting of the year. Elections were held for officers; President- Aniyah Cesar, Vice President- Kenslei LaRose, Secretary- Denina Ned. Club members will be participating in the annual EJHS Science Fair which will be held on Friday, November 8th. Members discussed the requirements for Science Projects that will be entered in the fair. The club will have monthly meetings.

Eunice Junior High School- Dads & Kids, a local organization whose mission is to give of their time for the youth in our community, made it possible for Tamara Wilson, Founder of Speak Out to come and spend the day at EJHS. Ms. Wilson spoke to each of the PE classes about the importance of talking to others if there is a problem and letting people in. She shared her own experiences through middle school and high school and the importance of awareness.

The Eunice Junior High School Bobcats defeated the OJHS Tigers by a score of 22-12 to stay undefeated in district play.

The Bobcats are coached by Head Coach- LaQuintin Lamb, Assistants- Casey Charlie, Chance Andrepont, Corey Andrepont, Caleb Johnson, and Zeke Thomas.

EJHS would like to send a special thank you to EHS Head Coach Paul Trosclair, EHS Principal Mitch Fontenot, and Booster Club President Roger Pedigo for allowing EJHS the use of Bobcat Stadium to host our opponents.

Eunice Junior High School- Mrs. Kathy Bollich's 8th grade LA History students have been studying about the new colony of Louisiane.

The Pelican girls, the first European females to this lonely outpost in the New World, were sent by King Louis XIV in the care of a priest who was instructed to marry them to Frenchmen as quickly as possible to help civilize the colonies.

Mrs. Bollich's classes practiced and performed in front of their peers the play 'The Pelican Girls' to give insight on what was happening in the colonies at that time.

Ms. Liz's Class at Grand Coteau Elementary went on a Field Trip to KidsWorld and Girard Park.

This trip was so much fun and helped the students work on their motor skills, balance, and sensory integration.

HIGHLAND ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Thanks so much to Star Lewis for coming to talk to Pre-K today to spread awareness about Sickle Cell Anemia. She gave each student a bracelet and a sticker to represent the cause. Fliers will be going home with all Highland students soon that advertise a walk that Star Lewis will be leading this weekend in Eunice to support the cause. There will be the opportunity to donate blood to go toward Star Lewis' need for blood due to her fighting this illness. Star Lewis is a parent to a Pre-K student at Highland. Please keep her in your prayers as she constantly fights this illness.

KROTZ SPRINGS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Ms. Wendy Wegmen from the Tourette's Association of America, came all the way from New York to present to our fifth through eighth-graders at Krotz Springs Elementary. It was a very informative presentation on how to help classmates that have Tourette's. Ms. Wegmen also presented to the staff at the faculty meeting.

Dr. Valerie Feathers and Ms. Karla Oesch from the Division of Archeology through the state department of culture, recreation and tourism, with the help of Ms. Dana Vidrine, provided our sixth-grade students with hands-on experiences in archeology. Students were able to observe discovered artifacts, record and chart findings, learn how to throw spears, and actually participate in a real-life archaeological dig at Krotz Springs Elementary. All of the students learned so much and were excited to share their knowledge!

These MACA students represented all of the talented departments of our school; many stepped out of their shells and crossed talent areas and totally wowed the audience of their family, friends, and peers! Many thanks to our Chorus teacher Ms. Smith, judges who were MACA alumni volunteers, Chorus students who worked behind the scenes, SGA-Renaissance Team volunteers who sold concessions, and parents, friends, and fellow students for coming out tonight and making MACA’s Talent Show such a success! We are so proud of all of you guys! ❤️

PRE-K students at Washington Elementary enjoyed creating Sun Art using black construction paper and an item that each child selected from our classroom. After leaving paper and item in sun for a few hours, students were amazed at how the sun faded the paper around their item. Students compared each other pictures to their classmates.
