PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Thank you for your unwavering support this year. We truly appreciate your dedication to education and partnership in fostering a positive learning environment. Thank you for being invaluable partners in our shared mission of cultivating bright minds and nurturing our future leaders.
INFORMATION FROM OUR PREVENTION COUNSELOR
Did you know, teens who consistently learn about the risks of drugs from their parents are up to 50% less likely to use drugs than those who don’t.
- Educate Yourself and Your Child: Learn about substance abuse, and its dangers, and discuss these topics openly with your child.
- Participate in School and Community Activities: Engage in Red Ribbon Week activities within your community and your child’s school to show your support.
- Lead by Example: Maintain a drug-free lifestyle, demonstrating the values of healthy living to your child.
- Encourage Open Dialogue: Foster a supportive environment where your child feels comfortable discussing the challenges they face, especially concerning peer pressure and substance abuse.

CONFERENCE DAY- NO CLASSES DEC. 8
ATTENDANCE MATTERS
Daily attendance and attendance to every class is important for students to remain connected and to learn. As the weather turns colder, we will open our foyer for students to wait until 7:30am. Breakfast is served from 7:30am-8am in our large cafeteria. Late arrivals have access to a breakfast cart in the foyer between 8am-8:30am.
Period 1 class begins at 8am. If students arrive after 8am, they need to sign in at our Attendance Office.
Below is a link that shares what you can do to help your child prioritize attendance to school.
YOUTH RISK BEHAVIOR SURVEY
Irondequoit High School is participating in the Youth Risk Behavior Survey as part of a countywide and district effort to gather information about the health risk behaviors of youth in grades 9-12.
The Monroe County Youth Risk Behavior Survey (MC-YRBS) is an anonymous survey that focuses on health-related behaviors that lead to most health and social problems during adolescence and adulthood. Question topics include mental health, drugs/alcohol, bullying, personal safety, nutrition, alcohol and other drug use, physical exercise, mental health, sexual behaviors, social media, childhood experiences and assets.
Survey questions will be available as soon as October 18th and accessible by contacting Ms. Corcimiglia at 336-2921 to review the questions. Surveys are completely anonymous and will be reported collectively.
Students will take the survey during the school day and it will last one class period. Students will not enter any personally identifying data on the survey and school staff members will not see the surveys when they are completed. Your child’s anonymity will be protected. In addition, the proctors will let your child know that they can leave any question blank if they feel uncomfortable answering it.
What are you options:
- If you permit your child to take the survey, you do not need to do anything.
- If you do not want your child to participate in the survey, please complete the attached form and return it to the prior to November 8, before 4 pm. Your child will provide an alternate location to use as a study hall.

SAFE SCHOOL HELPLINE

Please encourage students to report any concerns to an adult at school in addition to sharing with you. If your child wishes to remain anonymous but would like to report a concern, encourage them to complete the Safe School Helpline form using the link below or through the app. Reporting with as many factual details as possible will help our administrators follow up with individuals in a timely manner.
