Our special event is coming
Dear Year One Families,
We have organised an Astronomy Evening for Year One students and their parents. This evening involves collaboration with Macquarie University’s Astronomy Department and an Australian Aboriginal elder named Walangari Karntawarra.
Many exciting experiences are planned including an inflatable planetarium in Robert Dunnet Hall and, on the rooftop, telescopes for star and planet viewing complete with an astronomer to guide our viewing. You are more than welcome to bring along your own telescope to use for star gazing. You might also like to download a stargazing application onto your iphone or ipad to use on the rooftop. Please dress warmly.
We are fortunate to have Walangari Karntawarra an Australian Aboriginal elder to share traditional Dreaming Stories from the world’s oldest living culture. He encompasses a wealth of our traditional culture and is a gifted musician, teacher and performer. Please visit the website below to learn more about Walangari Karntawarra, who will be sharing Dreaming Stories under the stars. Please bring a blanket to keep yourself warm.
4:00pm: The children are collected from Wednesday clubs and go home to change in warm play clothes.
5:00pm: The children arrive at school and enjoy a sausage sizzle (gluten free) with their parents.
