A Message from Principal Demrow
WELCOME to all of our new and returning families! We have had a wonderful start to the school year and have been enjoying our new and updated spaces around the building and outside. I want to take this opportunity to thank all of you for flexibility, dedication and kindness to start the school year. We know that our students do best when there is a strong collaboration between school and home. Our Jefferson School Staff are here to support your student and family this school year. If there is anything you need, please reach out!
Your Proud Principal,
Mrs. Demrow
Arrival and Dismissal Procedures
Families using the drop off/pick up lane on Oak Street: Please pull all the way up towards Wyatt Avenue. We realize that it is easier to drop K-2 students off by their gate and the 3-6 students off by their entrance, but this causes a back-up of vehicles. We need your help to keep our drop off line moving and to keep the Oak Street and East Avenue intersection safe. Please also yield to our safety cadets and crossing guards. If you need to assist your student in getting into and/or out of a car seat, please pull all the way up to the corner of Oak Street and Wyatt Avenue to do so. This allows other cars to safely exit the drop off/pick up lane. Stopping to drop off students while on a crosswalk is prohibited. Parking your vehicle in the drop off lane is also prohibited.
Students are dismissed at 3:35 pm each day. We ask that family members or individuals picking students up to please wait outside of the school gates until the bell rings. We do have recesses and other activities scheduled on the playground until the end of the day.

Elementary school students may be eligible for the Wisconsin School Day Milk Program. Students grades KG - 5 who qualify for free or reduced price meals through Direct Certification or through the application process will also be eligible to receive free milk during daily milk break. Students who are not eligible for free milk but want to participate in the daily milk break will pay $30.00 per semester.
1st semester milk payments were due on September 10, 2021 and 2nd semester milk payments are due by January 21, 2022.
Dogs on School Grounds
While we love our canine friends, dogs are not permitted on school grounds during the school day, including arrival and dismissal time. The expectation is in place to protect children with allergies to and fears about dogs. School grounds refer to all grassy areas around the school as well as the pathways, and playgrounds surrounding the building (all areas inside of our fence). It does not refer to the public sidewalks. Dogs should not be left unattended. Dog owners should remain with their dogs at all times. Thank you for your cooperation.

2021-2022 Before and Afterschool Care Information
Before School Care
At this time we do not have an on-site before school childcare program. There was not enough interest in the YMCA's Great Escape program. This will be re-evaluated after first semester. If you have interest in before school care, please be sure to communicate this with Daniel Trader at the YMCA. Daniel is the Camp + School Age Director and his phone number is 715.952.9313.
After School Care
Jefferson Elementary has a Boys and Girls Club program on site after school hours until 6 pm (M-Th) and until 5:30 pm on Fridays. Click the link below for more information. This program is for students in 1st through 6th grade. Registration opened on Thursday, August 12, 2021.
Technology
A paper application will be used to request a student Mi-Fi for the 2021-2022 school year. A paper copy of this application is available in the main office and was sent home in our Beginning of the Year packet. You can also print off the application, complete it at home and send it with your student.
- Any student may request a Mi-fi as long as they attest to the need
- Technology will provide one Mi-Fi per student
- Only the paper form signed by the parent/guardian will be accepted as a request
Technology hopes to start distributing Mi-Fi-s the second week in September.
