Masks for this School Year
Last spring the school board made the decision to make masks optional across all grade levels and for both students and staff.
As a school I encourage you to talk with your health care providers to help make a decision with what works for you and your family. Currently the CDC recommends that students under 12 wear masks indoors.
Please know that we will work to support whatever your decision is whether or not to mask your child.
Last year, I found that when my family and I wore masks and washed our hands frequently we were able to stay healthier and didn’t catch the seasonal viruses and colds that we normally would. Therefore, I will continue to wear a mask to help keep my family healthy. I have attached a few documents from the district that are informative about our new mitigation plans that we are using across the district.
School Supply List
Nutritional Services-Free Breakfast and Lunch for All Students
Breakfast and lunch will be offered free of charge for the 2021-2022 school year. USDA has provided a participation option through the National School Lunch Program which gives us the ability to do this for another year.
· Students enrolled in brick & mortar schools who are participating in the National School Lunch Program are able to receive breakfast and lunch for free every school day.
· Students enrolled in E-Learning at participating schools are able to pick up meals when the school is serving the students in attendance. E-learning students can pick up breakfast and lunch at one serving period (e.g. the student arrives at breakfast, both meals can be taken). At this time, a parent cannot pick up meals for their student.
· BEST students are able to receive meals if they are attending a class at a participating brick & mortar school immediately before or after a meal service.
· Meals are free of charge but any ala carte items (e.g. a carton of milk) are not. All students will have to be able to pay for those items.
Even though meals are free, we encourage families to complete the 2021-2022 meals application Free & Reduced Meals Application . Meal status provides assistance with course fees, exam fees, and federal funding for the District (e.g. Title I), to name a few.
In addition, Nutritional Services has over 20 vacancies and there is an attached flyer with more information if you are interested in working for our District!
Transportation-Registration
If you plan to have your child ride the bus please take a moment to register your child through the district's website. This is the first step as we build a more accurate and efficient transportation network, with improved services. For assistance, please call the Transportation Department at (907) 452-2000 option 4. They are available Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Once routes have been finalized, your student's routing information will be sent to the contacts listed on your PowerSchool account. Please verify that your PowerSchool information is correct. You can check your PowerSchool information at https://premier.k12northstar.org/public/. Transportation anticipates having routes finalized by the second week of August. In addition, routing information will also be posted to the school district's website.
