Timberwolves in the Community

Washington Timberwolves in the Community:

We have so many talented students at Washington who do amazing things while at school and in the community. Unfortunately, we don't always hear the amazing things that happen outside in the community.

Click HERE if you would like to share how your child(ren) are doing amazing things in our community. Each month or so, we will print off the information and post it on our bulletin board so our school community can help celebrate with our students.

Over the lunch hour students can participate in Music Cafe. This is a great opportunity for students to showcase talents for their peers. For more information on the Cafe, click here.

School Safety: Raptor Security System

In an effort to make our schools safer, all Wauwatosa Schools are equipped with an Electronic Visitor Security System (“Raptor”). Essentially, the system is set up so that all staff and visitors in the school must have a visible, photo ID pass to move throughout the school during the school day. Consequently, the system requires that all first time visitors, including parents, who intends to go beyond the front office area, offer an official ID (driver license or state ID) that will be used to do a background check on the visitor. Subsequent visits simply require that the office staff input the visitor’s name and the matching photo ID pass can be printed automatically.

In order for this system to continue to work, we are also asking that all visitors, including parents, who intend to move throughout the building, enter through the main 68th Street entrance where the office is located. If a visitor is handicapped or cannot walk up the front stairs at the 68th Street entrance, s/he will be welcomed by a school staff member at the 67th Street lunchroom entrance and escorted to the office.

These security procedures do not alter morning student drop-off or afternoon pick-up procedures. School doors will be opened in the morning at 8:00 for student drop-off and relocked for the school day. Parents may also sign children in and out, as well as bring items to the school office for their children, without needing an identification check. In addition, these security procedures will be suspended for special events such as concerts and are not needed for events after school such as evening parent meetings.

Thanks in advance for your continued cooperation and understanding!

Washington School Store

The school store opened on Wednesday! Fifth grade students will continue to run the school store on Wednesday and Friday during the two lunch hours. The store is located in the lobby by the lunchroom. Funds raised from the store will support the fifth grade field trips and the promotion ceremony in June.

The store has theme pencils for $.25, fancy pens for $.50, character erasers for $.25, handheld pencil sharpeners for $.50, bonus Halloween items and lots more. It is requested that money sent to school for the store is kept in your child's lunch or kept in their pocket. For safety reasons, student may not go back their classrooms during lunch to get their money.
