SEL CASEL COMPETENCIES
Educators, families, students, community organizations, and researchers around the world use the wheel below to better describe what SEL looks like in practice. The five broad, interrelated areas of competence are self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making. Our teachers are incorporating these competencies in their instructional practices to support your child in school.
Family Emotional Safety Plan
Every single one of us will be overcome with anger, fear, or anxiety at some point. Plan for those moments and prepare a family emotional safety plan to equip yourself and your family to handle these situations effectively.
October Family Fun
What's not to love about fall: The cool autumn air, brilliantly colored leaves, apples, pumpkins, Halloween..the list goes on. To celebrate the start of the crisp weather season, see the fall activities to do in New Jersey
Optimistic October
It is important to make goals achievable and ensuring that you have a few short-term as well as longer-term, more ambitious goals helps us feel we're making progress. It doesn't matter if your goal for the day is something really small, the important thing is to give yourself the opportunity to feel like you've achieved something and to celebrate that!
