The 39 Clues Series

The first series revolves around Amy and Dan Cahill, orphans who upon their grandmother's death discover that the Cahill family has shaped most of world history. Family members compete against each other in a hunt for the 39 Clues, ingredients to a serum, the source of the family's power. Each book chronicles one location to which Amy, Dan, and Nellie travel and focuses on one historical character with whom a Clue has a link. The main narrative focuses on Amy and Dan's pursuit of the Clues while evading the sabotage of their competitors: Cahills from the other branches.
