We are inviting all families to register online at lopl.org/summer, set their own goals, and read all summer long. Your FREE book is yours to claim as soon as you register. We’ve created some extra challenges that go beyond reading, including a city-wide scavenger hunt. Log your time spent reading, complete challenges, and find all the colors of the rainbow hidden in our city parks, and you’ll earn raffle tickets good for our End-of-Summer prize drawings. We can’t wait to see you at the Summer Library Challenge Headquarters (706 Fourth St.) soon.
Students will be receiving LOPL postcards at their home address with more information about the summer reading challenge.

Each Monday from 5:00 to 5:30 PM, Respond to Racism hosts a Kids Storytime with Katharine Phelps. Katharine Phelps is a community educator who also partners with local BIPOC authors to bring incredible opportunities to LO readers of all ages! Keep Your Devices
Students in grades K-11 who are continuing with LOSD next year are asked to keep their devices — iPads Gr. K–2, Chromebooks Gr. 3–12 — over the summer. Graduating seniors or students leaving the district need to turn in their devices to school before the last day.
Current 2nd graders will exchange their iPads for Chromebooks in August when they return to school.
If you have questions or need technical assistance, please submit a work order and our tech team will be happy to help. https://losdhelp.zendesk.com/hc/en-us
Please Verify Your Student's Information
Beginning April 30, LOSD needs parents-guardians of all students enrolled for the 2021-22 school year to log into ParentVUE and review/update your students' information through the Register/Verify tab. This benefits both families and schools by:
- Ensuring that schools have accurate information to reach parents and other contacts in both emergency and non-emergency situations. Verification is important even if your address or contact information has not changed over the past year because the school may have incorrect information from a previous year.
- Confirming parent email addresses for Google Classroom and other applications to participate in your student's learning.
- Enabling distribution of key information in the district's K-12 Family Handbook and Technology Agreement.
