Internet at the Speed of Light in Cummington

The Cummington MLP, working with Whip City Fiber of Westfield, MA, is building a fiber optic network that will bring light speed internet to our town. This service will soon be available to every home and business. Construction on our fiber network has begun. During construction, we will continue to sign up both those who want internet service and those who may not want service currently but wish to make their home "internet ready." Be sure to read our FAQ page for answers to many questions about the service and installation process. Sign up now for free standard installation!

Dear Cummington Residents,

We are happy to report that as of last Friday, 74% of the town has had "strand" attached to the poles. We are still waiting on some residual make-ready from the utilities, but most of the service areas have been started. The next step, which will begin happening this week, is to put the fiber up and attach the MSTs- the connectors- to the poles.

We will post where the crews will be every day on the main page of the town website under Recent News, as well as on both Facebook and Twitter.

You may well be wondering how the recent covid-19 pandemic has affected the plans. We are in weekly calls with both WG&E and TriWire to stay up to date. Although much of their office staff is now working from home, this has not affected the construction phase and the supply chain remains intact. We will see effects further down the road, as of course the home installations in other towns have been suspended for now and the timelines will need to be adjusted.

If you haven’t signed up yet or would like to change from a cold drop to an installation- please let us know or just go to Cummington Whip City Fiber to sign up or make changes

Sincerely

Cummington MLP
