Message from Dr. Burns!
May 4, 2020
Dear Families,
This week, our new May 4th to June 18th schedule debuts. The rationale: It considers a balanced distribution of courses, with a 3-day rotation that continues familiar elements. We needed to make the changes to accommodate the Professional Learning, Virtual Support, and the vacation days that will provide a bit of a break and help for students.
Click https://bit.ly/kmsDLcal to see the daily and Virtual Support Day schedules, in addition to the schedule’s rotation and some important dates in the calendar.
As you’ll see, school lets out at the end of the day on June 18. But before that, we’ll have our 8th Grade Moving Up Ceremony. We’ll also be supporting all of our students to transition next year. Right now, we are working with the high school and 8th grade teachers to support our RISING 9th Graders, and 6th and 7th grade teachers will be preparing their students as they rise to the next grade. Additionally, our 6th graders will have a job helping to prepare our RISING 6th Graders from across the district by sharing their wisdom and lessons learned as now seasoned middle level students. I will also be reaching out to the parents of 6th grade students to share some of your own lessons learned to help prepare rising 6th grade parents!
Know too, that we will be celebrating all of our students during the last week of school! Stay tuned.
Have a great week!

BWRSD Online Tech Support for Families
Please continue to email BWRSDTech@BWRSD.org for support during this time of Distance Learning. The email account is accessible 24 hours per day, and you can expect a response within 1 school day. The most common issue for not being able to access apps such as STEMscopes is that they may not be going in through CLEVER or that families need to have students login to the Chrome browser with their BWRSD credentials. Here are directions.
If you have a broken device please email BWRSDTech@bwrsd.org.

Dear KMS Students, Parents, Guardians,
I want to check in and let our KMS family know that I am thinking of you everyday during this challenging time.
If you need anything, have any questions or concerns please reach out to me. (CONTACT INFO BELOW)
Although we may feel stressed or anxious at times, there are some things we can do to help ourselves deal with this.
Try and maintain a routine and create a schedule for yourself.
Schedule at the same time daily the time you: wake, eat, learn/study, exercise, spend time with family, watch TV, go outdoors, and bedtime. This actually helps us stay focused, feel better and decrease anxiety.
Limit TV time and online/social media time and know that some information online and on social media may be inaccurate and cause anxiety
Talk about your feelings with your family at home and share any thoughts you have.
Know that our state and health officials are encouraging us to practice social distancing and stay home to keep us safe and well.
Share any new information with me, your Team, teacher, guidance counselor, administrator anytime.
I hope you are all enjoying remote learning and finding the positives.
Although this new way of learning remotely has its challenges, it also has its benefits.
Not having to wake up so early
Eating meals on your own schedule.
Not having to worry about what you are wearing, how your hair looks and about that new pimple that just appeared on your face this morning.
Shorter school day
Going outside whenever you want….when it’s not raining. Seems like we have had more rain lately.
Studying from the comforts of your own bed, couch etc
Freedom to use the bathroom without a PASS
Freedom to walk around without a PASS
Not having to rush through the halls and worry if you will be late to class.
Still being able to stay connected and in touch with friends and KMS staff online
