Cimarron Middle School Newsletter - December 22, 2018
Colts Chronicle provides information to parents, students, staff, and community.
Dear Cimarron Community,
We hope you all are gearing up for a safe and relaxing winter break. We are so thankful for having the opportunity to grow and learn with your students this semester. The growth of our students is evident each day at Cimarron.
This semester has been busy, and we have been able to accomplish many of our goals, while providing opportunities for students to grow and learn through authentic experiences. Highlights from this semester include our Veterans’ Day Celebration, performing arts concerts and plays, district champions in 7th grade flag football, 7th grade volleyball, and second place in 8th grade tackle football! We are looking forward to continuing this journey in 2019!
Thank you for all of the community support we have received through volunteering, attending school events such as plays and athletics, donations for classrooms this semester. This month we are especially grateful for the success of our Festival of Trees event. Thank you to all of the people who volunteered to make this event possible!
January 7th marks the beginning of second semester. Students’ schedules will flip at this time. Copies of new schedules will be available to students when they arrive at school on this day.

Safety Update Raptor System
Dear Cimarron families,
Douglas County School District (DCSD) recently rolled out the Raptor Visitor Management system at our school. This system is used by many schools throughout the district and state, and will give us an additional layer of safety for our students. We are committed to protecting everyone at Cimarron Middle School and this system helps support our commitment. Read more.....Link to Letter
AVID at Legend High School
On December 5th, Legend hosted a Programming Night that highlighted the amazing programs we offer. One of those programs was the AVID program. I'm James Benson, and I'm the administrator over the AVID program. If you are interested or would like more information about the AVID program, we would like to invite you to our Question and Answer Information Evening on Tuesday, January 8, 2019, here at Legend. It will be held in rooms D204 & D205 (there will be signs and greeters to help you find your way to the rooms). All of the AVID teachers and admin will be present to help answer any questions and provide any information you need. The evening will begin at 6:30 pm and end at 7:30 pm. Please complete this FORM if you plan to attend so we can have an estimated number of people coming for seating and planning purposes.
Once you connect, you will need to set up an account in MySchoolBucks if you do not already have one. If you have ever put money on your students lunch account you will already have an account. Feel free to contact Jeannie McRae at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have questions or need assistance with registration. To reset your MySchoolBucks password, go to www.MySchoolBucks.com and click on Forgot your username or password, located just below the Login button.
Note: This Friendship link takes you to the MySchoolBucks sign in and then directly to the Club form. Complete the form, add to basket, and then go to the orange shopping basket icon near the upper right corner to checkout (even though there is no payment). You will receive email confirmation when your registration is complete.

Lunch Account through My School Bucks
Parents as a reminder, My School Bucks is the site to add money to your students account. There has been an increase in the amount of students who have negative balances in their lunch accounts.
We love our Volunteers! This year we have added a page to our school website for all of our volunteer needs. Visit cims.dcsdk12.org. Hover over the tab at the top labeled "Family Resources", then click on "Volunteer" in the drop down selections. Check back often, as this is being updated frequently! Thank you for giving your time and resources to Cimarron!
