What's going on in class?
Math
Our 13th week of school ended with a quiz over Dividing Fractions. This is the first section in Module 2 which was started on Monday. Module 2 is a short module that will be completed before Christmas break (feels way to early to be saying that)!! I have condensed some of the material to help prevent us from scrambling and feeling overwhelmed. This Module will end with decimals (adding, subtracting, multiplying & dividing) and finding factors and multiples of numbers. Students have already been introduced to some of these areas so I am VERY CONFIDENT in these last few weeks. Have a great 3 day weekend!
Language Arts
Next week students will continue reading the novel Hatchet in Language Arts. There will be a quiz on Wednesday over Ch 1-4. Please continue to ask your student about their weekly reading interests. (Please remind your student Hatchet is not permitted for weekly reading log).
Nightly reading homework-
Studies have shown that reading just 20 minutes per day will expose students to over a million words per year. This will then likely improve school grades as well as increase state standardized test scores. Please check with your child be make sure they are doing their nightly reading homework and filling out the log that goes with it.
Science
Students keep their Science Interactive Notebooks (INBs) in the classroom, but they are always welcome to take them home with them as long as they return the next day.
Social Studies
This week in social studies we completed our unit over Ancient Egypt. We studied several sources about the Nile River and completed a document based question packet. The students also learned about the 7 Wonders of the Ancient World. On Friday, the students learned about Veterans day and its importance. On Tuesday we will begin our unit over Ancient India, Hinduism, and Buddhism.
Have a great 3 day Weekend!

Student Expectations
Please charge tablets every night. Many students are leaving tablets in their locker. If your family would prefer that the tablet stays at school, please contact your student's CAT time teacher to make arrangements for secure storage and charging.
Students of the Week!
No Name Papers
We have had several no name papers turned in this year. If a student thinks they turned in an assignment but it shows missing in the grade book it is likely they didn't put a name on it. Please remind your child to always put their name, class, and hour on their papers.
