Updated Guidelines for Schoolwide Events, Activities and PTA
The district has made some adjustments to procedures based on high numbers of COVID cases through Feb. 4th:
- All Plano ISD schools are prohibited from planning large attendance indoor events such as all-school assemblies, parties, socials, pep rallies, etc., that bring large groups of students together during the school day. Campuses are encouraged to explore other options such as small gatherings, grade level cohort groups or virtual opportunities.
- We will still have our Friendship/Valentine's party with just our individual classrooms.
- Parent meetings and conferences will be held virtually through February 4th.
- Campus visitors and volunteers will be on a limited basis depending on the current Campus Response Level.
- No cafeteria/parent lunch visitors will be permitted on campuses through February 4th. We will send out the Sign-up Genius and place the link back on our webpage once district gives us permission again.
- Out-of-district field trips will be postponed and rescheduled for a later date.
- Field trips for third graders to the Plano ISD Outdoor Learning Center will continue as planned. Parents can work with their campuses to opt their students out of this trip.
Morning Traffic
We are needing your help with the traffic flow in the morning. If you arrive at school between 7:05-7:25, there is almost no traffic.
- If walking your student to school, please park as far to the curb as possible because the streets are tight. Parking too far into the street prevents the flow of traffic. I had to remind a couple parents even this morning.
- We all run late from time to time; life happens, right? Instead of letting your child out in the middle of the street to run up to the building or in the middle lane of carpool, take the time to properly pull up to the school and have your child step out on the curb. We have been having too many parents dropping their students off on Santa Fe or Montana Trail. We would rather have your child be late than have an accident.
- There is a not turn right law in place at the carpool exit.
- Best arrival time is 7:05-7:25.
Thank you for your support in the manner.

COVID - Working Together
We are fortunate that our staff at Thomas are healthy and here at school.
We know the Omicron variant of Covid-19 is highly transmissible.
- We want our students at school to stay healthy and be here so they can learn.
- We need our teachers healthy and well so they can be here to teach and care for our students each day.
It is difficult to determine if a child may have allergies or a cold; however, if they have any symptoms please keep them home and have them tested or see their doctor to rule out Covid.
If there is a family member in your home who has tested positive for Covid-19, please consider keeping your child home as a close contact. Let's limit the transmission at school for our students, our staff, and our families as much as possible. Our hope is this will peak in the next three to four weeks.
