WORDS FROM OUR NEW PRINCIPAL
Hello Heritage Huskies and Families!
My name is Heather Gross. Yes, my name is Mrs. Gross! You can call me that, and it won't even hurt my feelings! 🙂 I am so excited to be headed to Heritage Elementary next school year! I am originally from Hooper/West Point, but also have roots in the East Layton area. My great-grandparents lived on Angel Street, and I remember spending a great deal of time here growing up. My husband and I have four children ranging in age from 17 to 1 year old. I graduated from Clearfield High and went on to attend Weber State University, where I received a dual BS in Early Childhood Education as well as Elementary Education, with a minor in Special Education (Mild/Moderate). My administrative license and master's were completed at the University of Utah. I've worked in education for the past 20 years, holding a range of positions. I've been everything from a reading tutor, substitute, PE prep time teacher, Head Start preschool teacher, to a 3rd grade teacher. More recently, I've worked as an English Language Arts (ELA) Coordinator (or literacy coach), the Elementary ELA Assessment Specialist at Utah State Board of Education, and the Elementary ELA Supervisor for our district. I have worked as an administrative intern in Davis for 3 years and am currently placed at South Clearfield Elementary. I have a deep passion for learning and ensuring all students thrive. I look forward to bridging my strong literacy background with the world of Chinese immersion for the benefit of Heritage students. I look forward to meeting you all and beginning our journey together. We are going to do great things!
SURVEY - WHERE WILL YOU BE NEXT YEAR?
- Surveys are available in myDSD for ALL DSD students to tell us what they’d like to do next year.
- K-6 students can change their enrollment at any time they’d like. We recommend at the term break, but they can switch anytime.
