A Message From the Chamber Director
Welcome to the fall! This time of year is always so full of “New.” New school year, new season, new beginnings. As I’ve been talking to friends and colleagues in the community, I keep hearing about excitement for the fall. Whether it’s in anticipation of sweater weather, changing leaves, the State Fair, football season, or getting back to the routine of school, it seems that we are ready for what’s next.
Here at the chamber is no exception. As I navigate my first year as your Executive Director, there’s “new” around every corner. We had a tremendous summer filled with exciting events, new connections, and eyes towards our future. The Triathlon was a great success. It brought hundreds of people into our community and I think we were effective at keeping them here for awhile afterwards to enjoy even more of our community. We wrapped up the golf tournament a week ago and had a record- breaking year with that event also. I’ve heard lots of positive feedback and I don’t think it hurt that I ordered up the most beautiful weather August had to offer. We partnered with some local businesses to re-instate the welcome program and were excited to make our first round of deliveries.
As we celebrate our summer accomplishments, we spare no time in preparing for what’s upcoming. There have already been multiple meetings for the 2020 Home & Business Expo, and the Winter Blast. We have so many ideas and possibilities in front of us that are all collaborative and intended on building a bigger, better event for you. The Chisago Lakes business community is an honor to be a part of and it’s my intent to offer each of you as many opportunities to shine as possible.
Last month I added a brief article about some of the board specific things we’ve been working on. We are fine tuning our mission, vision, and core values and are incorporating them everywhere. When I took over as your Executive Director in January, I quickly realized that the sky is the limit here. What I find to be helpful is to run all ideas, initiatives, and suggestions through the filter of our mission, vision, and core values. It’s with that method that we have secured some exciting new technology (stay tuned), are evaluating our existing events, and hope to implement more business and networking focused opportunities for all of you.
As I begin my 9th month as your Director, I’m feeling very welcomed in my role. So many of you have made this transition easy and fun. I’ve loved having the opportunities to work alongside so many of you and I look forward to what the next few months will bring. I’ve spent the last 9 months embracing the “new.” Thanks for making it so wonderful!
