Mental Health/Suicide Prevention
Out of the Darkness Walk
American Foundation for Suicide Preventions Out of the Darkness Walks takes place in cities nationwide. In the Community, Campus, and Overnight Walks, those affected by suicide – and those who support them – raise awareness and much-needed funds, strongly sending the message that suicide is preventable and that no one is alone.
Serve our community alongside your peers on November 6, 11a-2p! Volunteers will serve at the registration booth, activity stations, cheer and support squad, and logistics crew.

Food Insecurity
LSC-M Food Pantry
The mission of the Food Pantry at Lone Star College-Montgomery is to help meet the food needs of all members of the LSC-Montgomery community with dignity and respect. The Lone Star College-Montgomery offers any student, staff, or faculty member emergency food and supplies.

Montgomery County Food Bank
Montgomery County Food Bank's mission is to unite the community to fight hunger. The vision of a society where everyone has access to sufficient, nutritious food is possible through volunteers, the community, and corporate partners. They distribute 10 million meals each year and couldn't do it without their wonderful volunteers.

Meals on Wheels primarily provides nutritious meals, a quick safety check, and a much-needed human connection to homebound seniors. Additional services that keep seniors healthy and safe are also offered in some communities, like pet food delivery, senior center meal programs, home repair services, and transportation. Each local program works with its own community's needs and resources to provide a community-specific solution.

Women's Empowerment
Mercy House Global
As a faith-based organization, Mercy House was founded to aid single pregnant women who need support. Their home is a place of safety and peace where each woman can focus on her emotional and spiritual growth. They have a variety of volunteer needs that change weekly and include but are not limited to the following: assistance in preparing fair trade products made by artisans around the globe for sale by unpacking, sorting, tagging, pricing, packaging, and labeling. Mercy House Global also has a continuous need for routine assistance with preparation, organization, and inventory of products and supplies at the warehouse.

Montgomery County Women's Center
The Montgomery County Women's Center leads the effort in preventing Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault through crisis intervention, assistance, advocacy, empowerment, and social change. Volunteer in administration, childcare, resale, hotline handling, and more. Volunteers must undergo training.

Disadvantaged Youth
Sleep in Heavenly Peace
Child bedlessness is a national problem, and as a national nonprofit with chapters spread across the country, SHP has provided the solution. The Montgomery County Chapter is a volunteer organization that builds beds for kids who are sleeping on the floor in the Montgomery Area. Register below for a build day, experience appreciated but not needed!

Angel Reach
Angel Reach is working to provide a coordinated family of services aimed at meeting the special needs of children exposed to abuse and neglect. Angel Reach is first committed to assuring the safety and security of all children and youth in alternate care. With safety and security needs being met, they can rebuild trust in others; develop spiritually; begin to have a sense of belonging, and rise above their backgrounds to become productive adults.
Volunteers are needed in their Angel Loft Furniture Store, Life Skills Classes and Meals, Cooking Classes, Game Night, Food Recovery, and more!

Community Development
ESOL Program
Help develop our maverick community through our partnership with the Lone Star ESOL program! Pair up with 1-3 ESOL students to hold conversations about food, faith, family, and more. These conversations are an opportunity for ESOL students to practice their English and allow all parties to build cultural competency. You will undergo training in how to hold effective, culturally competent conversations.
Registration for Honors students opens at the beginning of each semester, Spring 2022 deadline has passed.
YMCA Bright Life
Bright Life is a YMCA-based day program for high school students and adults with special needs. Last December, at the Candy Cane Ball, volunteers helped at the photo booth, sign-in table, carriage ride, and served as dance buddies! Smart casual dress, masks required.

Bookshare
Bookshare is an eBook library that makes reading easier for those with reading barriers to customizing their experience. Mask Making
If you’re looking for a more hands-on approach and want to aid healthcare workers and patients, you can make masks and drop them off at any Joann Fabric Store location. With the help of volunteers, Joann has created and donated 400 million masks. If there are no local Joann stores, you can also donate to local organizations requesting handmade masks.
