Canaan Middle School Update
August 26, 2022
Principal Corner
Canaan Families,
We are off to a great start this school year. Our 5th grade students are adjusting well to a new building and our 6th grade students have done an outstanding job being positive leaders! Students at Canaan will hear us talk about being caring and kind to each other and our surroundings. These are two actions that create a positive and welcoming environment for every student that walks through the doors each day. Our students will hear many times throughout the year that if you are caring and kind, you can't go wrong!
During the first 4 days of school, we talked with all 6th grade students about what it means to be a leader at Canaan Middle School. You may have noticed the handprints in the hallway as soon as you enter the doors at the middle school. These handprints represent students leaving their mark at Canaan Middle School. The mark we want to leave is a positive legacy in everything we do, not just at school. We will continue this tradition with our 5th graders this year in the coming weeks. Our students get a chance to make a difference and leave a "mark" every day with their decisions and actions.
In closing, I would like to thank all students and families for the positive welcome you have given me. I am truly blessed to have the opportunity to be a part of the Canaan family. I look forward to an amazing school year!

Cafeteria Reminders
We have had some an issues with getting our students through the lunch line with enough time to eat. We plan to adjust our lunch times slightly to allow for a little extra time for our students so they don't feel so rushed to finish lunch.
Also, we have bottle fillers in the school that students can refill their water bottles with. Students are able to carry water bottles with them throughout the day to stay hydrated!
School meals are no longer universally free. Parents/Guardians must apply for Free & Reduced Meals through Final Forms. School meals costs are as follows :
