Returning families will follow the “Already a BRSD family?” instructions.

2023- 2024 Education Assurance Survey
Dear Parents,
Alberta Education has officially launched the 2023-2024 Education Assurance Survey!
If you have a child in grade 4, 7, or 10, you will receive a survey from Alberta Education at the end of February, beginning of March
Results from this survey will be used to inform planning at the school and divisional level for the 2024/2025 school year.
Attendance Matters
Students success and a sense of belonging starts with consistent attendance at school.
Ensure that your child is consistently attending, so we can help them reach their full potential. Please reach out to your child's teacher or school administration if attendance is a challenge for your family.
"Good attendance" is attending >95% of classes - which is roughly missing 0-1 days per month.
Excellence in Learning.
What does learning look like at New Norway School? It is authentic. It is hands-on. It is engaging. It is practical. It is learner centered. From mock trials in English Language Arts to fetal pig dissections in Biology 20 to energy efficient house designs in Science 7 or amazing creativity in Junior High Art. We thank Our Superintendent of Schools, Rhae-Ann Holoien for visiting our classrooms and discussing learning with our students!

Jump Rope for Heart
Our student leadership team held a kick-off to our Jump Rope for Heart campaign. The initiative's goal is to raise $2000 for the Heart and Stroke Foundation as well as promote heart and brain health through physical activity. The assembly featured a friendly jump rope competition between students and teachers. Even Spiro got in on the action! Donate today:

EDL
The Elementary Dodgeball League (EDL) has started. This is an elementary student leadership initiative that was created by one of our Grade 4 students! Teams are made up of a mix of grades 4, 5 and 6. Every Thursday at noon, students have the opportunity to play Dodgeball in a safe and fun environment. We have the Wolves, the Grizzlies, the Pythons, the Panthers, the Badgers and the Sharks. The bleachers are packed at lunch and the energy is incredible!

I’d like to acknowledge that we are on Treaty 6 territory, a traditional meeting grounds, gathering place, and travelling route to the Cree, Saulteaux, Blackfoot, Métis, Dene and Nakota Sioux. We acknowledge all the many First Nations, Métis, and Inuit whose footsteps have marked these lands for centuries.
