We finished our unit on “God’s Best Gift.” As we enjoy our families and the festivities during this Christmas season, let us remember God’s great gift to us.

Language Arts News
We completed a unit on farm animals this week. The children learned that dairy farms produce the milk that is used for butter, cheese, ice cream, and yogurt. It was fun to make and sample our own butter.

Thank you for your faithful review of service words and word families at home. The homework that you do at home really cements the learning that takes place here at school. After Christmas we are on the road to first grade, and it is vitally important to keep things fresh in the minds of these children in order for them to be ready.
Over the holidays, please continue reading and reviewing.
We are working on counting to 80 by ones and tens.
We are talking about money and how the penny is worth 1 cent. We are using our pennies to review the dot patterns. They are also great manipulatives for addition story problems.
February 1st will be the 100th Day of School. Please have your child start thinking of 100 items he can bring to share with his classmates that day. I will send more information in January.
Some Extra Information
Please return the Friday folder tomorrow morning. It will be one less thing you have to keep up with over the long Christmas break.
Each child should be bringing his/her school box home. Please help your child clean out his/her school box during our vacation. When classes resume on Monday, January 11, please have your child bring his/her school box, containing new crayons (the "classic" 16 or 24 count with traditional colors), at least 2 new glue sticks, 3 new pencils, eraser and their scissors. Each individual crayon and pencil should be labeled with your child’s number or name.
Thank you for your prayer support this semester. It is vital for a successful school year. Have a Merry Christmas and a blessed holiday season. I will be looking forward to seeing each child’s smiling face at 8:00 on Monday, January 11, 2016.
Any video or pictures that are sent to you are for your personal enjoyment. For the safety of our students, we ask that they not be posted online or distributed in any way.
Thank you for your kind understanding.
