First Grade
Second Grade
To celebrate World Kindness Day on November 13th, our second graders at Orlando Science Elementary School completed a service project. Officers often don't have time to eat, as our safety is of their upmost importance. For our project, we had some wonderful parents donate some prepackaged snacks for our noble, honorable officers serving the Orlando community. Each child wrote kind messages on the snacks, to remind ALL of our officers that they matter and that kindness ripples. Sgt. McConnell from the Orlando Police Department came and visited some of our classes and was very happy with our kind gesture!
Third Grade
We had our math benchmark this week. Next week we will have our Drop Everything and Write.
We are having a Thanksgiving Feast on Thursday, November 21st!
Mrs. Sokoloff and Mrs.Hurley are working together to make floats for our Thanksgiving Feast.
Fourth Grade
Fourth grade has had an eventful week! Mrs. Michaud’s class has been working on identifying how multimedia elements assist in comprehending a passage. They also discussed wind energy, the Seminole Wars, and continued their discussion of the multiplication of fractions.
We are very excited for our St. Augustine trip! If you will be chaperoning, the chaperone fee is $122 and is due no later than Monday, December 2.
Fifth Grade
Sixth Grade
In World History we will be studying Ancient India and the religions of Hinduism and Buddhism from now up to the Thanksgiving Break. Please be sure to notify your teachers if you will be missing any school leading up to the break as both teams will be testing on India/Hinduism/Buddhism during those days.
Also, keep on the lookout for an email about the practice qualifier test for the regional History Bee. Mr. Lawrence and Mr. Press will be sending home some resources that you can use to prepare if you want to do well. The History Bee is not required but is an exciting competition for those interested in History and Geography.
In Mr. Press’s Mythology and Art elective, the kids made some excellent depictions of Ragnarok; the destruction and rebirth of the world in Norse mythology. So much better than the Marvel version!
In Spanish Class we were working with Verb Conjugation. Students were able to review pronouns, verbs, adjectives, and nouns definitions so we could learn them in Spanish.
Students were also able to Honor our Vets with art and Thank you Notes. Students were able to make Sugar Skulls for the Day of the Dead. Congrats to Samriddhi Basak for her AWESOME “COCO” Movie drawing/Painting bout the Day of the Dead!!!
