Who is Alan Turing?
Alan Turing is often remembered as the father of modern computing. He was an amazing mathematician and logician. Turing decided to put his brilliance into hacking codes in World War II and helped shorten the war by at least two years.
What did he do?
During World War II Turing worked for the Government Code and cypher school at Bletchley Park, Britain's codebreaking centre. Here he cracked the Enigma code.
Personal life
Alan Turing was homosexual. At this time that was illegal so the police wanted to lock him up. Instead he chose to take cyanide poisoning which killed him.
Some people believe it was suicide others and accident.
