Nighthawk News
September 25 - September 29
Events and Reminders:
* Monday will be a cycle day 6.
* The dental sealant program will be in our building Monday-Thursday so any child in PK, 1-3 that sent in their signed forms, will be receiving their sealants this week.
* October calendar and lunch menu are coming home. Red Ribbon Week did not make the printed version but a flyer will be coming home and I'm attaching that version here as well!
* Transportation Changes: For the safety of our students we ask that a note/email be sent in the morning if there are any transportation changes for that day that you weren't aware of prior to them making their way to school. We understand that emergencies come up and changes may have to happen during the day but as ask that anything be communicated prior to 2:00.
* If your child is absent a written note is required in order for the absence to be considered excused, even if you called to let us know. We must have written notes on file.

Messages from the PTO
PTO Meeting Reminder
Our first PTO meeting for the 2023-2024 school year will be held on Monday October 2nd at 4:30pm in the Library. All are welcome to come!
Candy Bar Fundraiser
We kicked off our candy bar fundraiser with an assembly on Thursday! Candy bars will be coming home Monday with students.
PTO is only allowed to send 1 box home at a time. They will be happily send home more boxes when they receive the money envelope with $60, and the envelope is signed stating you would like another box. PTO must have that for every box they send out after the first box. That is how they keep track of how many boxes each student sells.
Thank you for supporting Nightengale PTO and helping us get one step closing to reaching our goal of selling at least 200 boxes!!
Any questions please email the pto at nightengalepto84@gmail.com

Red Ribbon Week
P2 Trait of the Week: Open-Mindedness
Dear Families,
This week our school community will be focusing on the character strength of Open-Mindedness. Open-mindedness means you like to consider new ideas and try new things. You examine things from all sides and don’t jump to conclusions.
Open-mindedness is the willingness to actively search for evidence that goes against one’s favored opinions, plans, or goals. Open-minded individuals are able to weigh all evidence fairly, when it is available. They see the other side and fight the tendency to have a bias for their own views. And, rather than favoring the socially dominant views, they give attention to those that are less dominant.
Open-minded individuals are often good listeners and called upon to provide a balanced viewpoint. Both listening and the ability to deliver reasonable and practical advice are marks of good friends and confidantes. This strength helps individuals form meaningful and lasting relationships.
To practice and encourage the character strength of open-mindedness with your child, please visit the Positivity Project’s P2 for Families (password: P2), where together you will watch a video, read a quote, and talk about the answers to three questions.
Have a wonderful week!
