Butterfly School News - MAY 2020
It goes without saying the past few months have been challenging in ways we never expected. We’ve had no choice but to be both adaptive and resilient. Despite these challenges, I hope each of you have found special moments of joy with your family and that you also see joy and happiness in the days ahead. God is always with us even when we must adapt our lives to unwanted change.
As we diligently work our way through these unanticipated end of year events, we are planning for and looking forward to the start of our next school year this coming fall. There likely will be new procedures to help assure the health, and safety of our students and staff but rest assured, we will let you know about them well in advance so you can properly prepare.
Again, on behalf of the staff and teachers at Riverside Butterfly School, we thank each of you for your gracious support during this time. God bless each of you and keep you safe.
Be sure to check out the parent article at the bottom of the newsletter- Parents Guide:

Our Zoom PreKindergarten Graduation
Our RBS graduation ceremony was this past Saturday. It was attended by all our four year olds and their families. Overall, it went off very well! It was wonderful to see the sweet faces of our pre-k children one last time before they head to Kindergarten this fall. However, to be honest, I hope we don't ever have a reason to do a Zoom graduation again!!
Links to the PreK graduation program will be sent out next week through your child's teacher.
Each Pre K class had their own graduation time.
It was a bit of a process to do this but...
it was wonderful to see all the sweet faces!
- like the TV weatherman, I used a green screen.

Chapel Chat -Ms. Chris
Dear Butterfly Families, I want to take this time to tell you how much I have missed you. Everyday I have included the Butterfly families in my prayers for Gods love to surround and protect you . God's love is mighty and he makes us aware of His love in every flower that blooms and every smile we see and every wave we experience from afar. Our Bible verse in February taught us to " Be strong and courageous" Joshua 1:9. Your children will remember how God performed miracles and
kept his people safe.
April's verse is " Jesus is the son of God" John 20: 30-31. Last week we imagined what his disciples might have experienced when Jesus ascended into heaven. Our May bible verse is "Always do good" Galatians 6:10. Before Jesus left earth he told us to share love and kindness. May 6 will be Our last online Chapel class . We will talk about the fruits of the spirit , Galatians 5:22-23.
Please continue to be safe and I look forward to seeing everyone in September .
Musical Moments! Ms. Deborah
Butterfly School Family, although our year was cut short, what precious memories were made and sweet faces come to mind! I hope that all of you stay well and have a wonderful summer! I am excited about seeing you again and walking the halls of Butterfly School together. I want to leave you with the words of Number 6:24-26 a song of blessing from God, “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face to shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace.”

Amazing Artists at Butterfly School! -Ms. Jennifer
I’m thankful to be a part of a wonderful school and so sad I didn’t get to say goodbye to all my beautiful artists. I pray that God will bless all of you and keep you safe. May you have a wonderful summer! I love and miss you all. Take care and make sure to take time to draw or make special gifts for your family and friends.
Spanish! Ms. Sandra
HOLA! HOLA! mis amigos!
I hope everyone is happy and healthy! I miss seeing all of your smiling faces! I know this isn’t the way we thought the end of the school year would be. I do hope to have some of you back in my class in the fall. I’ve been working on some new and fun things to learn when school starts again! For my friends who are going to kindergarten; I’m sorry we didn’t get to say good bye, but I know kindergarten will be an exciting new journey for you!
I hope everyone has a fun and safe summer, and I am counting on seeing you very soon!
Movement Matters -Ms. Kayli
Wow! I cannot believe the end of the year is already here. I have missed getting to work with the precious children at Butterfly School. P.E. Movement was a blast and I cannot wait for another year of fun. Keep active, keep moving, and BE KIND!
Super Sign Language -Ms. Luella
These have been difficult times. I have never seen anything like this. I miss all of you so much! Yet I know and trust God. He is my rock and stronghold. He is a good God that blesses us richly. He is a God that heals. He is the Prince of Peace. I am so looking forward to next school year! It will be hard to wait till September.
In the meantime if you want your children to keep learning and practicing sign language, here are a few more videos they can watch.

Library- Ms. Lee
Happy May! I miss my sweet Butterfly students and our reading time together. I want to encourage you if you haven't already, to sign up for E-books to extend your home library. Please don't think of this as screen time for your child but rather time spent with high quality literature. Vooks.com and Kids World Fun.com offer at least one month free. Epic Books is another good website to visit. We've enjoyed each of these in our home and my daughter loved her E-book reading time.
Also, I want to suggest that you have a tub or tote of "reading buddies" (small stuffed toys) for your child to share books with in your literature area. Do you have a large plastic tub that your child can sit in? Put pillows and special books in it and it becomes a book boat. Do you have a plastic wading pool? A blanket, pillows, and books turn it into a story ship. Thank you for promoting literature time at home! I'm so looking forward to seeing our Butterfly families in September. Prayers for you! Stay safe!
Sensational Science- Ms. Tracy
These kids have made science so much fun. I’ve enjoyed getting to know each and every student and watching them get excited about Friday science. I hope they'll always have a love of science. Have a fabulous summer and remember...SCIENCE IS EVERYWHERE!!
Coding Kids- Ms. Susan
I can’t believe the year is over and I didn’t get to give big hugs! I sure have missed seeing all those big smiles and creative minds. It was such a blessing and joy working with your children! They are so smart, creative and sweet! I hope they enjoyed coding and continue to learn the coding language with passion and excitement. I hope everyone is doing well and staying safe!
Smiles,
Mrs Susan
